Photo Scavenger Hunt: March 2012

I actually managed to finish the photo scavenger hunt this month! Thanks, as always, to Kathy for hosting.

Words:

Scavenger Hunt

Street Name: Does every city in the U.S. have a Washington street?

Scavenger Hunt

Half of a Face:

Scavenger Hunt

Fashion: Does is have to be this century?

Scavenger Hunt

City: Shot of Indianapolis from the roof of the building that TheFirstChild and SweetiePie live in.

Scavenger Hunt

Landmark: The I-65 bridge over the Ohio River.  When the boys were growing up, they were always so excited to see “the big bridge”.  It meant we were almost half-way to Grandma’s!

Scavenger Hunt

Fancy: Easter Bunnies!

Scavenger Hunt

Square: A beautiful hand-made T-square.

Scavenger Hunt

Morning: 7:22 a.m.

Scavenger Hunt

Kitchen: The kitchen ceiling was painted today.  (And I’m sorry, I inadvertently led you to believe that I painted the entry hall.  Not me!  I only stripped the wallpaper there.  I didn’t paint this ceiling either!)

Scavenger Hunt

Theatre: The historic Embassy Theatre.

Scavenger Hunt

That’s it for this month! And Happy April! I sure wish I could think of a fun April Fool’s prank to play on TheManoftheHouse. I feel like a big joke has been played on me — how can it possibly be April already???

XOXO,
Anna

Photo Scavenger Hunt: February 2012

It’s been way too long since I participated in the Photo Scavenger Hunt hosted by Kathy and I’ve missed it!  I love a good scavenger hunt and this one is always fun.  So, here’s my shot at the photos for February:

Five.  Messing around with Instagram at my desk at work.  (‘Cause you know, we’re not allowed to have cameras at work.)

Scavenger Hunt

Music.  One of my favorite children’s songs.  (Give Said the Little Stream.)

Scavenger Hunt

A Train.  By Lionel.

Scavenger Hunt

Love.  My first true love — my little 12-year old heart is broken tonight.  Davy and I spent a lot of time dreaming together.   You probably didn’t know this, but we were to marry.

Scavenger Hunt

Cupid.  This one was tough.  Cupids aren’t just anywhere you know.

Scavenger Hunt

Food.  Looks like I need more color in my fruit bowl.

Scavenger Hunt

Empty.   My sewing room candy bowl.

Scavenger Hunt

In The Sky.  Naked trees — we’re still almost two months from leafing out.  Hard to believe on an unbelievably warm 65 degree day.

Scavenger Hunt

Crowded.  The evergreens are choking out our sidewalk.  Something needs to be done.

Scavenger Hunt

Heritage.  The people on the bottom row are my great-great-great-great grandparents.  I wish I had more of those boxes filled in.  My paternal grandfather belongs in the “child” box.

Scavenger Hunt

Black and White.  Kitties of course.  Enjoying a promise of spring to come.

Scavenger Hunt

Leap Year.  Another tough one.  I copped out and wrote the formula for determining if this is a leap year.

Scavenger Hunt

That’s it for February. Hopefully I will be able to be a little more consistent with this challenge this year.
XOXO,
Anna

Photo Scavenger Hunt: August

I’m blaming all the kitchen work this summer for the fact that I missed the July Scavenger Hunt. For awhile, I was just going to post it late, but I finally decided to throw in the towel and skip right to the August Scavenger Hunt.  Thanks to Kathy, as always, for hosting.  When I first saw this list I was afraid I was going to have a hard time, but the trip to see the kids last weekend saved my hide!

A Boat.  On the canal in Indianapolis.  See?  I told you it was like Venice!

Photo Challenge

A Festival or Fair.  This year’s ill-fated Indiana State Fair.

Photo Challenge

A Fountain.  I had a shot of a fountain along the canal, but on the bike ride back home, SweetiePie pointed out this cute little elephant fountain in someone’s beautiful garden.

Photo Challenge

A Picnic.  We had a late breakfast before our bike ride, so we just had a snack picnic.  Cracker Jacks mandatory.

Photo Challenge

A Sport.  Hey. Knitting is TOO a sport!

Photo Challenge

Bread.  I bought those thin bagels to try with the Biscoff spread last week and they were awful.  I put them in the trees for the squirrels to munch on.

Photo Challenge

Fabric.  Something we have lots of around here.  I thought this pile of scraps from The Children were very appropriate since their arrival this month caused such excitement here in ThimbleannaLand.

Photo Challenge

A Market.  Fresh.

Photo Challenge

Mountains.  Oh please.  We’re not the flat-as-a-pancake plain states, but we might as well be.  I thought about cheating and using one of my mountain pictures from Spring Market, but I try to take the pictures during the specified month.  So, how ’bout mountains of buttons?  This was the cute display in Crimson Tate, the cute new quilt shop in Indianapolis.  I love that they’re in a gumball machine!

Photo Challenge

Something Ancient.  I think we’re too new of a country to have anything that I’d consider really ancient.  But I thought this old coca cola bottling company building across the street from Crimson Tate looked pretty cool.

Photo Challenge

Something Bizarre.  This is three pictures of the same sign on Mass Ave. in Indianapolis.  We call her the Sexy Lady.  She’s constantly moving and she dances back and forth, back and forth, all day and night long.  She looks pretty cool at night.

Photo Challenge

Street Food.  An ice cream vendor along the canal.  (Taken by SweetiePie — thanks SweetiePie!)

Photo Challenge

So, that’s it.  I’m SO ready for the weekend.  We’ve had a terribly stressful week at work.  We had layoffs again this week and one of my favorite friends got hit.  We’ll just say there were tears today as he said his goodbyes.  Our former pod of seven is now down to three.  When our little twin mother is out on maternity leave, the other remaining guy and I are going to put up tiki torches and see who gets voted off the island next.  (Sorry, all we have left is stupid jokes.  Stupid layoffs.)

Have a great weekend — and in the US, a Long Weekend — Yipee!!!
XOXO,
Anna

Photo Scavenger Hunt: June

Don’t fall over — I’m actually on time for this month’s photo scavenger hunt hosted by Kathy. So…here we go….

A Childhood Memory:  One day when MyDadLovesMeBestSister and I were little girls, we got in trouble.  (I know.  Hard to believe.  It only happened once.  Well, for me, anyway.)  BigDaddy got mad at us (he never got mad) so he told us that in 30 minutes he was going to give us a spanking.  BigDaddy was a very smart man.  He knew that 30 minutes of suffering would hurt a LOT more than a measely spanking.  But, we were smarter than BigDaddy.  We went to the pan cupboard and we each got a pan and stuffed it in the back of our pants.  ‘Cause, you know, BigDaddy would never notice a big pan handle sticking out of our pants.  I’m pretty sure we still got spanked, but I hope BigDaddy at least laughed.

Photo Challenge

A Farm Animal: Ok, so I cut his head off. This is a barn in Gettysburg. I was too busy looking at that original cannonball hole in the wall of the barn to pay attention to the location of the horses’s head.

Photo Challenge

Wheel Trim:  Remember?  From when we were kids?

Photo Challenge

An Elephant: My childhood ring holder.

Photo Challenge

Architectural Detail:  Corbels waiting for a hat.

Photo Challenge

Cheese:  Shredded.  And your last view of the fugly green tile which will be kicked to the curb … tomorrow!

Photo Challenge

Cutlery:

Photo Challenge

Night:  Cars leaving the neighborhood.

Photo Challenge

Something that Starts with a Z:  Kathy and I were thinking the same thing.  (Unlike the brilliant Jane.  What self-respecting sewing blog wouldn’t turn to Zipper first?)

Photo Challenge

Something with Your Town’s Name on It:  Yellow pages (or the zoo sign — I love it, every month, there are always pictures that will fit more than one category.)

Photo Challenge

The View from Your Door:  Straight out the front door.

Photo Challenge

Branches:  {Sigh}  The view skyward, under more trees ravaged by that nasty ash borer.  We have 5 more and they’ll all have to be cut down.  If you’re in the Eastern US and you haven’t seen the ash borer yet, brace yourselves.  ;-(

Photo Challenge

That’s it for June — July’s list looks like lots of fun and anyone can join in!

XOXO,
Anna

Phot Scaventer Hunt: May

I seem to be establishing a pattern with the monthly photo scavenger hunts hosted by Kathy. Late, late, I’m always late. This month I’m blaming it on the tile dust, ’cause a girl has to have excuses.

I had two trips this month, so several of my photos came from other locations:
A Cartoon Character:  A Goofy phone that one of the kids won in a white elephant gift exchange years ago.

Scavenger Hunt Photo

A Streetlight: Up the mountain road from Park City.

Scavenger Hunt Photo

An Interesting Local Building: An old Pea Factory in Utah. (It was local to me at the time!) I think women made parachutes here during WWII.

Scavenger Hunt Photo

A Butterfly: The only butterflies I’ve seen so far this season. I was in the car at the time and couldn’t get out to take a closer picture!

Scavenger Hunt Photo

A Bicycle: From the Riley Blake booth at market.

Scavenger Hunt Photo

Think Vintage!: Confederate cannons at Gettysburg (where we spent Saturday — the carriages aren’t old, but the gun barrels are vintage).

Scavenger Hunt Photo

Something Blue: A car at a hot rod show this weekend in York Pennsylvania.

Scavenger Hunt Photo

Texture: Grasses, stones, and running water.

Scavenger Hunt Photo

A Red Door: On a restored pioneer house in Utah.

Scavenger Hunt Photo

A Sign of the Zodiac: Libra? ;-)

Scavenger Hunt Photo

A Portrait in Black and White: Our A.Mazing tour guide at Gettysburg.

Scavenger Hunt Photo

An Emergency Vehicle: Our local life flight helicopter.

Scavenger Hunt Photo

I think Kathy was hoping that the list for June would be easier, but i’m not so sure.  (An elephant is on the list.  Maybe I can use the first picture from this month — a white elephant gift, ’cause our little zoo doesn’t have an elephant!)

XOXO,
Anna
