Phot Scaventer Hunt: May

I seem to be establishing a pattern with the monthly photo scavenger hunts hosted by Kathy. Late, late, I’m always late. This month I’m blaming it on the tile dust, ’cause a girl has to have excuses.

I had two trips this month, so several of my photos came from other locations:
A Cartoon Character:  A Goofy phone that one of the kids won in a white elephant gift exchange years ago.

Scavenger Hunt Photo

A Streetlight: Up the mountain road from Park City.

An Interesting Local Building: An old Pea Factory in Utah. (It was local to me at the time!) I think women made parachutes here during WWII.

Scavenger Hunt Photo

A Butterfly: The only butterflies I’ve seen so far this season. I was in the car at the time and couldn’t get out to take a closer picture!

Scavenger Hunt Photo

A Bicycle: From the Riley Blake booth at market.

Scavenger Hunt Photo

Think Vintage!: Confederate cannons at Gettysburg (where we spent Saturday — the carriages aren’t old, but the gun barrels are vintage).

Scavenger Hunt Photo

Something Blue: A car at a hot rod show this weekend in York Pennsylvania.

Scavenger Hunt Photo

Texture: Grasses, stones, and running water.

Scavenger Hunt Photo

A Red Door: On a restored pioneer house in Utah.

A Sign of the Zodiac: Libra? ;-)

Scavenger Hunt Photo

A Portrait in Black and White: Our A.Mazing tour guide at Gettysburg.

An Emergency Vehicle: Our local life flight helicopter.

I think Kathy was hoping that the list for June would be easier, but i’m not so sure.  (An elephant is on the list.  Maybe I can use the first picture from this month — a white elephant gift, ’cause our little zoo doesn’t have an elephant!)

XOXO,
Anna

  1. May I suggest that you look for an elephant figurine. Many places sell them because they are a good luck item in some cultures. Good luck on your hunt.

  2. I was going to loan you an elephant picture but this may be the month I join in on the fun. You have some great shots and I hope you share more of Gettysburg and York–a favorite of mine.

  3. Those photo scavenger hunts always look so fun. I love the Goofy phone and the red door. I’m going to check out the list for June.

  4. Great set of photos…. was Gettysburg really good? I have a hankering to do the full Civil War sites one day by motor home, probably when I’m older and greyer than now. We watched the fantastic Ken Burns Civil War series and it was amazing. The tour guide looks almost authentic! ;0)

  5. If I was closer I would lend you one. Our SIL is Indian and elephants are a sign of good fortune. We all have received at least one from his family as gifts! And it was the first thing his parents brought to their new house. (I have found the cutest fabric with elephants, can’t wait to make it up in a quilt for Ilika!)

  6. Anna, maybe you should suggest that the photo scavenger hunt be MOVED to the 7th of the month? ;0

  7. Ditto on the Libra sign interpretation. That’s my sign too! Love the Goofy phone. I have the same one. ;). Goofy is my fave Disney character.

  8. Some great pictures here – the butterfly one made me laugh:) Love the blue car and the Goofy phone. I must try and do the June list – I can definitely do an elephant!

  9. I have enjoyed your photos. I took a similar picture for emergency vehicle! I do think the June list is easier than the last two though I don’t know where I will find an elephant yet!

  10. i’m happy to know i’m not the only bizarre person out there taking photos of everything and bringing her camera EVERYWHERE!!!!
love all your photos, as always!
    :waves madly

  11. LOVE LOVE LOVE your Goofy picture. It has warmth and depth yet the way you cropped it, it’s kind of mysterious. Isn’t it funny how you have to go so far out of your way to shoot something you probably have nearby? That’s what I usually find! Excellent shots, all. I agree with you, June seems the hardest yet!

  12. I hope your horrible tile-lifting is now over. Not fun!

(But no, my marking isn’t over forever. I shall probably do it next year to supplement my meagre pension. But then I won’t be working during the day so it won’t be as bad.)

  13. ..YANGON Reuters Life! – Authorities in Myanmar have caught a rare white elephant which are believed to bring good fortune in a western region hit by deadly flooding this month state media reported Tuesday…Villagers in Rakhine state in western Myanmar had reported the white elephant in a herd of five animals and Ministry of Forestry staff then went searching for it. 14. Anna, as I was “perusing” your scavenger hunt photos I happened to notice a very familiar red door. That’s my view out of my kitchen window in our weekend house. I own the stone house to the south of that red door. I am guessing that you came to quilt market but how in the world did you get to Spring City, Utah? I was shocked and blown away. I have been following your blog for some time now and who knew you would be right across the street?
