Six on Saturday

1.  Well hey — what’s going on out there???  Is it just me, or has it been extra quiet on the internet lately?  Could be me — I’ve had my head down and needle up a lot — working … working … on FinallyAGirl’s little quilt.  I quilt on it almost every night after work and I’m really enjoying the process.  In spite of all the work, I’m just barely half way finished — hand quilting is a LOT of work!

2. Have you seen these adorable apothecary jar labels?  They’re used in a really clever Halloween idea — by collecting a bunch of old jars, you can create a fun/creepy Halloween display of potions and brews.  If you click on the link, there are lots of free labels to download and it’s a fun article to read — if, for nothing else, to find out how the author filled her jars to look like snake venom, vampire’s blood, and coffin nails just to name a few.

3. TheFirstChild sent me this fun picture the other day.  How cool is this poster?  You can get a free download of this (can be printed up to 20 x 30) and lots of others at jpl.nasa.gov.  I think space travel is so interesting and I love to think of all the possibilities our grandchildren and great-grandchildren might see in their lifetimes!

4. I’ve had another little project I’ve been working on this week.  I’m using felt and Liberty and it’s been a take-a-long project for me to work on at lunch time each day.  Someday I’ll be finished LOL.

5. Warning:  Politics for item#5 LOL.  Are you c-o-m-p-l-e-t-e-l-y sick of this election in the US yet?  As one of my friends at work says — “I’m going to vote on Nov. 8th and then come to work and gnaw my arms off.”  I sure wish we could be proud of our next president.  I hear a lot of people talk about how excited they are that their little girls will be able to see our First Woman President, but it makes me really sad that the title won’t belong to someone more worthy.   No matter who wins, I don’t think our children will be looking up to anyone.  On a lighter note, SweetiePie sent me these two pictures last week:

6. WooHoo! It’s Quilt Market next weekend! I’m really excited because I’ll be seeing the little sprite on the left in the picture below. I miss the days when she had a quilt market booth, but I’ll take a visit any way I can get it.

Have a great week — quilt market report when I return!

XOXO,
Anna

  1. That little girl’s quilt is going to be gorgeous! Thank’s for the link to the Halloween labels. I think I might just use them this year as Halloween seems to be a bigger thing each year in the UK. As for your election… I find it terrifying that in country that size the choice comes down to those two. I don’t envy you!

  2. I’ve been staying away from politics on my blog but had to laugh at the two photos you posted – you are right they both are not great and I can not believe we have no other choices but even if she lies I think she is better than him – my choice
hand quilting is only as difficult as you make it – that is my motto – if you stress over tiny stitches take them a little larger – who really is going to notice if it isn’t going in a contest? Sit back and relax

  3. Love love love that sweet pink lucious quilt and hand quilting it to …..you go girl. Politics, sighhhhh I can’t even go there, makes me very sad. Quilt market…..always makes me happy. Hey I will see you in St Louis peaches and will hang out in line ???. Safe travels and please report back ???

  4. Your baby quilt is going to be gorgeous, Anna, and whatever it is at number 4 looks great too! To be honest, I am so over the US election so I can’t even begin to imagine how bad it is for you living there! Another good reason to live in Scotland! LOL

  5. Fun stuff–all of it.
That quilt! Oh! It’s gonna be sweet!
And that bunny?? Whatever it is, looks awfully adorable.
Got a text from the NJ Dem party, wanting to know if we got our absentee ballots (??)
We live in MT. Ummmm how did they get my number????
    Can’t wait for Nov. 9th. (I think)
At least I have a wonderful place to escape to — Thimbleannaland!

  6. Love the baby quilt! We are just looking on in disbelief at what is going on with Trump and Clinton ……. they make our politicians look good!!

  7. Are you making a little bunny ? That pink coat is so so sweet!
Oh – politics have been insane. I’ve never been so embarrassed to be an American.
Have a great time at Market!!
The baby quilt is look great. There’s nothing like hand quilting to make an instant heirloom.

  8. Your hand quilting is looking so beautiful Anna! You are so good at this I can tell! Love the little hearts there…it will be the most gorgeous keepsake for your little grand baby.
Hardly know what to say re the election……but your pictures were very funny, and you do just have to laugh sometimes…X Have a fab time at Quilt Market.

  9. I Love all 1 – 6! Especially the quilting on the baby quilt. BEAUTIFUL!!! And need to look at those labels when I am done here – and love the political joke. Although the whole thing is nothing to joke about – it sure does provide a lot of material! I think I’ve missed commenting on the past couple posts – and I think the political/country/world crisis is just making me sad and depressed. It makes my heart hurt. But let’s keep fighting our way back to the top. At least the CUBS are in the World Series!!! Have a great time at market and forget about although the rest. xoxo

  10. Thanks for all the eye candy. finallyagirl’s quilt is gorgeous, but let’s talk about that bunny!!!! tell me about the pattern, the wool, oh my gosh and that little jacket. sigh. i’m going to go look at the labels for halloween. have a fun week anna. can’t wait to hear about market.
    :waves madly

  11. I know what you’re making! It’s so cute and she will love it! The quilt is really beautiful. Find us some fun things at market. Oh, and I dropped a little something in the mail today.?

  12. The quilt and felt jacket are sooo darling. You used to refer to your patterns so we could make as well, which I loved. You are so inspiring! Enjoy….

  13. I think its been quiet on the internet too, not that I can talk, the time between my blog posts seem to be getting longer and longer. Your baby girl quilt is adorable!! I love the space travel poster! Have fun at market!!

  14. Your projects look beautiful as usual. I’ve been getting back to R’s quilt: I’ve decided to revert to the old-fashioned method of doing 4-patch squares. The other method was much too clever for the likes of me. Enjoy the quilt market!

  15. It’s quiet on the internet, but I’m not posting much either… ;-) Love finallyagirl’s quilt! As for US poliltics, we have many discussions on TV and ‘social’ media about the two candidates as we are all worried about the outcome!
    Have fun at quiltmarket!!

  16. Lovely makes you have going on here! So much pretty! As for politics, I too can’t take anymore. We early voted yesterday. I tuned out all the rhetoric weeks ago and I’m already looking forward to the next election!
