Blue Socks

Thank you so much for all your sweet comments on my Aunts’ Quilt — it’s always fun to have a quilt finish!  I’ve pressed The Aunts’ (or rather, the back of the Aunts’) into service again to show off my latest sock finish:

Thimbleanna: Blue Socks

I worked on these little socks randomly here and there, and just whenever, and finally they’re done.  I started knitting the Drunken Bees pattern (which I can’t seem to find now) out of this yarn, but quickly discovered that I’d really have to be drunk to successfully execute that pattern (I knit waaaay too tightly for that pattern to work for me).  Just as I was pondering new options, Bekah posted a new sock pattern that she’s offering for free.  So, I used my standard sock knitting method and used the “stripe-y” technique from her pattern for the stripes.  I’ve already worn them and they’re super cozy!  Thanks Bekah!

there’s a punch line here somewhere, but I can’t remember what it is.  Oh well … (btw, all the wood in the background came from yet another tree that we’ve lost on our lot — at this rate, our lot will be naked in 10 years {Sigh}).

I actually took these pictures last week, but somehow I just can’t seem to get back here during the week to write a post.  I’m either at Mom’s or, when I get home, I make a hurried dinner and then bury myself in the hand quilting on the baby’s quilt.  It’s slow going though — I’m guessing I’m about 1/3 of the way done.  I was hoping for a finish by Halloween, but now I’m hoping for Christmas ;-D.

And now … it’s the weekend. Yipee! Have a Good One — and if you’re in the southeast, I hope you’re staying high and dry and that “normal” will soon return.

XOXO,
Anna

  1. “stand up, sit down FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT!” Just in case you really wanted to know the punch line to “lean to the left, lean to the right.” :o) Beautiful blue. I’m envious of knitted socks. I’d had a drawer (or two) full! Is you tree loss because of the dreaded Emerald Ash Borer? We lost tons in Ohio as the dreaded killer insect started in the east and over time was demolishing trees as it headed westerly.

  2. Very nice socks, such a pretty blue. Hope you and Baby C and her parents are doing well. We’re off to see Baby M tomorrow. I miss her so much between visits. Sniff.

  3. Love the socks. I just bought some more sock yarn so I need to get knitting on those…after…I finish the finger-less gloves, the 2 American girl doll sweaters and hats for Christmas presents to the grand-girls…The list goes on and on :)

  4. Those are the sweetest socks! You know….you should never wear socks outdoors without shoes (says the mom in me). Don’t you know you’re going to wear holes in those nice, new socks? I do like them holding flowers tho! Well done, Miss Thimble!

  5. I’m a new sock knitter and so appreciate the link to your sock tips! I’m only one sock in and am already obsessed. I started on dpns but am looking forward to trying magic loop next. I want to learn everything about knitting socks! I’m excited to knit a pair for my hubby and my girls for Christmas. Can’t wait to read all of your tips. These socks you knit are amazing!
