Sewing

Thanks for all the quilt love on my last post. You guys are pretty funny. Most of you made me feel better about that 90’s green and wine. Barb’s buddy No-blog Jill even took a peek into the future to suggest tomorrow’s red and green. (Hint: they’re spelled r.e.d. and a.q.u.a. LOL.)

Not much quilting going on around here this week, but I have managed a little sewing. Do you remember my toaster pillowcases? I’ve been busy making more of them.

Thimbleanna: Friendship Star

Thought I’d stock up the gift pile.

Thimbleanna: Friendship Star

I threw in a few Dr. Suess pillowcases. Can you guess the recipient’s name LOL?

I also caught up on some WAY overdue wedding gifts. A bride and groom cookbook and Mr. and Mrs. aprons.

Thimbleanna: Friendship Star

So, no progress on my summer list. I’ll be working on  #10 in a few days though — it’s almost time to visit The World’s Greatest Aunt while TheManoftheHouse holds down the fort (and tends kitties!), poor guy. While I’m gone I might be glued to Instagram though — I discovered #campthepigeon today and I’m in love.  It’s  going to be very sad if the story doesn’t end happily.

Be good while I’m gone!
XOXO,
Anna

  1. Those pillowcases look awesome! Red and aqua are one of my favourite colorways and sound much better than green and wine! I think the aprons are fantastic too, how nice to have a Mr. and Mrs. one!

  2. Ahhh…fun projects. No toaster sleeping here. I am definitely not a Poptart. And no green or wine to be seen. Regardless of the retro color scheme, I still thought the quilt was ooo-la-la. Butt-ugly fabric stars and all. Really.

  3. I love that toaster fabric – too funny! When I first read the “toaster pillow case” I thought you meant a cover for the toaster, lol – not enough coffee yet, lol!!
Do you use your Viking to do the embroidery? Looks great, really professional.
The cookbook and aprons is such a great idea –
enjoy your visit with your Aunt.

  4. Love the “toaster” fabric! You always seem to find the most fun fabrics.
Great job on the aprons and cookbook! I bet the Mr & Mrs loved them!

  5. I had never heard that saying Anna, but I LOVE it! The pillow cases are so so cute, and look like something you’d pay high dollar for in a boutique. As do the aprons. You are one talented lady! :)

  6. Now, that’s cool fabric. Love the toasters. I’ve been sewing a bit meself, but mending is not nearly so much fun and making toaster pillowcases. O.O

  7. Girlfriend- I love those pillowcases! Awesome. The Friendship Star quilt is gorgeous. Perhaps you should say that green and wine are timeless. lol I am afraid I am amongst those who have neglected their blogs as of late. I think about it, does that count? I’m pretty sure it’s because my life has been so out of sorts and I do not think anyone wants to read about that. Hahaha.
Off to the sewing room for me. I’m up to my ears in pattern writing!

  8. There is no end to your talent. Can’t wait to meet you in 6 days (I’m counting down). Love your pillowcases. You’ve been busy.

  9. Love your sewing projects. I like those pillowcases a lot. I really am itching to sew something fun….like a cute denim bag or a few little girlie jumpers. Soon….soon.

  10. i too, am no in love with camp. wtg on all of your sewing projects. love mr. sam’s pillowcases! my kids need to have you for an auntie. i want a do-over. i want my husband to be your brother. he is a great brother. he lends things he has no business LENDING to his sisters…. goes to their houses and fixes things for free, employs their drug-taking, tool-hocking, jewelry-stealing husbands, is everyone’s fave uncle and all children and dogs adore him. oh, and then i’d be your SIL and you could pop by 1xyear for a visit and we could go to glass beach, the redwoods, the food trucks, fig picking, and numerous other califoria-y activities. oh, oh and we could make our crowns. sigh. i’m booking your flight. it goes from utah to cali. i’ll write a note to your boss and send some dinnersinabox over to MOTH so he won’t be too upset at the one week waylay of his spousal unit.
okay, so you now have me shopping for toaster fabric for toaster pillowcases. what is wrong with me? (don’t answer that, there’s a long list).
you always make me want an embroidery machine. actually, i think my machine embroiders but i’m clueless. another reason for a calivisit.
okay… off to go save the world…. my work day isnt over yet.
    :waves madly

  11. Crazy Brigette is alive and well and saving the world! Don’t do any of these—instagram, FB, twitter etc. I already waste enough time. But happy to see Campthepigeon via YOU! Have a great visit….

  12. The toaster pillow cases are too cute! I love Dr Suess fabric. You just gave me a great idea, my sons mil wanted me to do something with the Mr and Mrs chair covers from the wedding 3 years ago, I know I’m so bad about making something with them :)

  13. So cute!
I love all of your projects.
You’ve inspired me to finish my coffee and jump right into my sewing room! (Kids in tow, of course. They’re designing doll quilts today ;-)

  14. i have a bunch of Sam I Am fabric, too – for my littlest grandson (Superman/HandsomeSam/Sammy Samarai/Samichi) … i haven’t been much of a fan of Dr. Seuss since my oldest son (now 36 and the father of three) talked me into making green eggs and ham for breakfast one morning – ugh!!! it was just as nasty coming out as it was going in, if you know what i mean…

  15. OK – those toaster pillowcases are just adorable. I mean – I just made ONE pillowcase for Bubba (his cowboy one from a million years ago’s Amy Butler Sew Along is all worn out) and it nearly killed me. Now I see this and I’m all, “DAMN IT ANNA! Hope Bubba never sees this…”

But so cute – and the Sam I Am one is too fun. :)

  16. Love love love the toaster pillowcases! I’ve told you that before. They are super! At least you are getting some sewing done. Big fat zero sewing here.

  17. Love, love, love that pillow case. Since you’re stocking up the gift pile, I just want to remind you that my birthday is coming up. ;o) – Actually :oP
