Now, We’re Cooking with Gas!

Holy Cow, it’s been rough to sneak in any blogging these past few weeks.  Nothing fun happ’nin around here.  No fabric or needles.  No cooking.  No fun making o’ much.  It’s been a big week here in the reconstruction zone though.  I’m thinking we’re turning the destruction corner and now things are starting to be put back together.  We had to have a few cabinets re-made and they were installed on Tuesday.  Then, the appliances arrived on Wednesday.  WooHoo!   (Although the WooHoo was tempered a bit by the almost all-nighter that we had to pull between the two deliveries to get the drywall and electrical stuff ready — we’re still tuckered out!)

Stove

Anyway, new stove — look!  It’s shiny and dusty.  I just wanted to get a picture — it will never look like that again.  ;-(  We’re not really cooking with gas yet — there’s a little complication with hooking the gas up, but I’m sure it will be solved … sometime.  Haha.

In the meantime, I thought we’d have a little New Stove contest.  I had a choice of knob colors on the new stove.  It was like having a little angel and devil sitting on my shoulder screaming at me.  Did my wild side prevail?

Or did my conservative tendencies win out?

If you’d like to throw your guess in the pot (by, say, Saturday, June 25th at midnight), I’ll take all the correct answers and have a little drawing.  I’m thinking the prize will be a charm square pack of Bonnie and Camille’s new fabric line, Ruby.  (It’s been ordered, but not here yet —  I’ll ship it to the winner as soon as it arrives.)

So.  Whatddyathink???  Red knobs or black???

XOXO,
Anna

  1. What fun to be able to choose!! I think you went with black to match your granite benchtops.

Glad to hear that thing are moving along and that you will soon be cooking with gas. Can’t wait to see more pics of your kitchen makeover.

  2. Ha! I think black. Glad its start to come back together, though. How fun to have a new kitchen!

  3. oh…my…I would want the red…but I would probably get the black…but I think you were brave enough to get the RED… so I pick RED…

  4. Hmmm? For a Ruby charm pack, I will guess red. Just had my kitchen remodeled and I just love my new stove. It’s not as fancy as yours, but it’s a “good cooker.” Hope you enjoy yours as much as I do mine. Happy Cooking!

  5. Ha, this is cute, did you get a set of both so you can pull them off and change when the mood strikes? no, then you chose BLACK!

  6. I’m on the side of the devil… red! Love that cooktop… mine is about to be axed, literally! I can’t wait to convert to gas :o) toni xxx

  7. Oooh nice and shiny!

I’d like to think you went wild and picked the red, but I’ll have to temper my enthusiasm with common sense. The black would match your new kitchen much better and is more versatile, so I believe, Anna, that you stayed on the straight and narrow.

  8. I love red accents but in the end I think I’d have gone with the sharp black and I’m guessing you did, too. Am I right?
You must be so relieved to be coming to the end of your project!

  9. Red. Definitely red. You must have done something to sidle over to the wild side after that green tile countertop . . . ;o)

I’m so glad you’re turning the corner! That’s one of the best points in the whole process. Hang in there!

  10. Black is a much better contrast with the stainless. Red seems to sorta lose it’s bright cheeriness against the stainless.

  11. I too think you went for the black ones!
PS: You’ll love to cook with gas. I wouldn’t want to go back to electric for a minute!

  12. As much as I love the red, being pratical, eventually they would show dirt… dark dirt, maybe black permanent marker that someone transferred from a moist mitt… The black may show cupcake batter, but that will wipe off easily.

  13. I would guess black!!! So you can change the colors in your kitchen when you want, and don’t have to worry about making things match the knobs!

    Good luck!

    Hugs from Michigan – Diane

  14. Blogging is the last thin on my mind lately!

Love that new stove Anna!! I don’t think you let the devil win! I guess the black knobs will fit your new kitchen design!

    Happy weekend!

  15. all i have to say is they better be red!
    that’s it.
    that’s all i’m sayin’.
and i’m a girl who loves black!

sooo excited for your new kitchen!

  16. You don’t need to enter me , I certainly don’t need any more fabric….I’m hoping they are red….or maybe you went for some of each ?

  17. I would never have the courage for the red. I am not casting nasturtiums on your bravery, but I think you went for BLACK – I’m sensing a common geekiness between us.

I should also add I am possibly the least perceptive person on the plant ;-)

Cannot wait for the full reveal. I do love my kitchen but I’m always up for lusting after someone else’s design choices!

  18. Ohhhhh, I love the red, but I think we might be alike, somehow wishing we had the guts to go red, but going for black instead!!

  19. That is looking like a stove you can do some serious cooking on. I hope you chose the red. It is just so fresh and fun looking. Your kitchen is sounding fantastic. It must be exhausting to have workers in your house all the time, but the effort will be worth it.

    ps not entering the giveaway

  20. Love your new stove Anna,I would love to have gas when we need to replace our stove. Oh well I’m conservative and go with the black knobs, even though I love red. I think you should order both!!

  21. I think your conservative side won out with the black. But, man, the red is cute! If you chose red- Good on ya!!!

  22. Glad your kitchen if finally getting rebuilt. How fun to get new appliances as well. This is hard though…part of me wants to say you went with red. As it’s such a great pop of color. Another part wants to say you stay conservative with black…hmmm!

    I think I’ll say red! :)

  23. I’m hoping you took a walk on the wild side because I would love some Ruby fabric! (Besides, surely you could purchase black knobs if you got tired of the red!)

  24. I know what I would have picked….the red ones. I have so much red that it would have been a no braner. I hope you did too :)

  25. I’m thinking….RED!
I love my gas range but had no choice on knob colors but I would have definitely been tempted by the red, but I’m kinda boring so probably would’ve ordered black. So I’m thinking you went just a little “wild” with the red! (And ordered spare ones in black, just in case?)

  26. Red because red is best and it goes with everything. I would choose red every time, but my DH makes me read the reviews to make sure that the red is best and not just psychological. A nasty incident with a red cleaner. Least said soonest mended, I say.

  27. I’m going with Red! Really, we’re about to order our own Wolf range and I’m getting red, think you might be too! Good luck gettin’ that gas line hooked up. I’d love to read about how you like the stove once you’re using it.

  28. Well, being as I think you’re a wild and crazy kind of a girl, I’d have to with red. Or maybe I’m just thinking of what I’d like. ;)

P.S. I love my gas stove. I would never go back to electric unless I was forced!

  29. well … i dunno … i’m old and the black knobs are easier to read … but you are NOT old … and the charm pack is RUBY … so prolly red

  30. I’m thinking red! I’d love to have a gas stove but there isn’t gas available in my community (or really much of the city I live in).

  31. I sure as HECK HOPE you picked the red knobs! I’ll be crushed if you didn’t! ;0

    Ruby, Ruby…

  32. I, like all the other guessers, say you wanted the red (because you’re a “wild child”) but chose classic black to be refeened. Oh my , I sure do love me some Ruby! Hope I get picked. Thanks for the giveaway. Good Luck with the rest of your reno.

  33. Given that CK and I on the verge of beginning our building saga we discussed this and have come to a joint decision of black.

Red would be gorgeous but then limits your palette if you want to change your colour scheme own the line (unless of course everything is red!

  34. LOL, I would have picked you know what, I think you went with black. Maybe you will shock me,,,,,,xoxo It will be beautiful no matter which one you picked.

  35. Looks familiar – I hope you went with the red – that’s what we here at the Farmhouse did :). Soooooo are you surviving all of this

    Hugs – karen

  36. I think you picked black. I have a brand new kitchen too. I love my new Wolf gas range. It’s so nice.

  37. I would have gone with the black, but that’s plain old boring Miss Jean! I think you went with the RED!!!!

  38. if is do say so…i believe that for the “long haul” you picked the black knobs…elegant & classic!!
we cannot wait to see the photos of your shiny new kitchen…what fun!!

  39. I was first attracted to your website when I saw your red and green Christmas quilts. I think you defintely went with red!

  40. I love the red, but would probably choose black, more so the knobs would not be a focal point.

  41. I don’t think that even though I know you are a wild child that you went with red. I think you chose black for sure.

  42. Black! And you’ll love cooking with gas!
PS – thanks for the tip on the flash in the last post…I had no idea – ha!

  43. I am voting red! Always a classic, but who says you can’t use both, switch them out when you want.

  44. Red, surely!

Of course you could choose one of each… but no, that’s not really my answer.

Mind you, black CATS are better than red ones….

  45. I would choose black, but I think you chose the red. Looking forward to seeing your new kitchen.

  46. Oh I always wanted a red kitchen…..I hope you go with the very cool red.
How pretty…….I miss my gas stove….I have one of these awful glasstop things…YUCK!

    Happy sewing

  47. I don’t think I even need to tell you what color I’d pick. :) And you don’t have to put me in the drawing.
    GO RED!

  48. Your new stove looks fabulous – and I can’t wait to see the finished kitchen. I’m going to guess that you went with the black knobs – although the red are fun…………. no, I’ll stick with black! Lucy xx

  49. Red! It’s my favorite and should be your favorite too! lol. Anyway, you could always buy both and switch them out from time to time.

  50. I love red…those red knobs are so fun…most of my house is red and I have been anxiously awaiting the arrival of the Ruby debut so would love to win. Have fun picky…but I still vote red.

  51. So you’ve got gas? ;o) I say the black knobs! Red would signify danger to me! Then again, maybe your cooking is dangerous in your household! lol Sorry, I just couldn’t resist!

  52. There is an unfair component to your question- we, the readers, are not privy to your colour scheme. I would say that you got red because you are giving away Ruby fabric- the associations in the mind (red knobs ruby fabric). Enjoy the gas. We put gas in our kitchen reno last summer and had several complications with the install!! I guess it is to be expected. Well the up side is that gas is great. I can make fried eggs for the kids in no time flat. Enjoy.

  53. I’m so excited for you, Anna! That stove looks awesome!! Ok, you had to get the red knobs, right? I’m almost sure of it!

  54. Oh momma… that would be tough. I would want to go red, but worry about resale-ability. {What might potential buyers in the future think? Dumb right?} Being practical I would go black… afterall it looks so sleak next to the stainless.

  55. I am with Kristyne on the pink…but since only red and black are the choices..going with red..I see in a previous picture you have some rugs with red in them…and Ruby is red as well…hmmmmm…any connection? Lisa in Texas

  56. I think you will go with the “Red” to make a nice contrast with the kitchen and I believe it would fit your personality.

  57. Oh for shame! I missed this drawing and I do so love Camille’s fabrics. I had to come see the comments, anyway, and I haven’t even peeked at the answer. I rooting for red!

  58. The red is spicy but I would get tired of the color after a while and like someone said in an earlier post, you can easily change out colors and accessories in your kitchen with those awesome, timeless black knobs — so I’m voting for black!! Congrats on the new kitchen! How exciting!
