Laundry Basket Liner

Shoot!   I didn’t mean to be gone so long, but it’s been pretty boring around here.  It’s been a long dull week — back to work after three happy holiday weeks isn’t easy!  Plus, we’ve had something every night after work this week, so, just not much excitment — or sewing.

I did manage to finally line my laundry basket last weekend.  Mine isn’t nearly as cute as the version I did for MyDadLovesMeBestSister, but it matches the other accessories in my laundry room, so I’m happy.

Basket Liner

I used every last scrap of fabric that I had from the laundry lady fabric.  I was even short a bit, so I pieced it.  The jury is still out as to whether I’ll put grommets in this liner.  I’m sort of wishing I’d done some sort of cute scallop along the bottom — I guess it’s never too late.  But you know.  Lots of other projects are waiting in the wings.

Basket Liner

This seems to be the time of year when everyone starts new, exciting projects.  I’m dying to start some too, but I really want to dust off a few UFOs first, so I’ll try and exercise some willpower.  This laundry basket has been on the list for a year.  Done.  I’ve also been plugging away at my long time applique project, so I’m hoping to actually finish it before too much longer.

Basket Liner

See? Laundry Basket already pressed into service. Now, I’m off to cut out that Amy Butler corduroy fabric — it’s a stormy snowy day so I’m going to hole-up in the dungeon. (If you peek at the Thimbleanna banner, you’ll see that the Thimbles are ecstatic that we’re finally getting a little snow!)

Have a good weekend!
XOXO,
Anna

  1. Oh so cute! I love the laundry lady fabric. Glad you were able to tick off a UFO from the pile. I’m happy for you to get snow. WE’re still bare and really, it’s ok with me.

  2. What fabulous fabric for your laundry basket liner, it looks so great, I love it!!! Good for you ticking off a UFO so soon into the year!!
    Hugs,
    Joy :o)

  3. The banner cracked me up! I am on a UFO mission too. And so far I have finished the baby quilt top, now to figure out the quilting. Got the binding ( ok, at least the machine work part ) onto my new dil 40th birthday quilt and finally started making the blocks from the. 45 or so strip sets I made last January in Rachel’s postage stamp quilt a long. And we are only half wY through January! Hurrah for us!

  4. I love your basket ANNA. It’s perfectly vintage looking. You have been a busy woman. I need to get off the computer and my butt and get working.

  5. yes, ol man winter has finally remembered us, huh? just miserable outside today!
probably no long drive to fabric shop for me this weekend…your banners are always so darling!

  6. How cute are those thimbles please and I’m so jealous you have snow, it’s bloomin cold here but none of the white stuff. Good for you finishing off a few things you’ve definitely got stronger willpower than me and you always find just the right fabric for the right job :-)

  7. Anna, Love your little thimble guys! They are so cute! As for the UFO’s …ew! I have so many and what did I do the other night…started another! LOL! I’m sure I’ll get this one finished right away! Yep!

  8. Everytime I see that laundry basket I get sad…I want one so bad…. bugger that postage down under !

  9. CUTE new banner! Love the cheering thimbles! (Although I would not be cheering at the prospect of snow – it can stay away, as far as I’m concerned.)

Love the laundry basket liner. Maybe a little scallop or something would be nice, but done is done, you know. Time to move on to something else. Right? I think you did a grand job of it anyway.

Nothing very interesting happening around here either. Hopefully some sewing will take place this weekend. Have a good one!

  10. Well, I think your little laundry basket is seriously swanky. ;o) Love it! Now I need to search and find out where you got it, so I can pin one for myself. lol

And you’re so blessed to have snow. We’re still looking like a frosty California around here . . . and we’re further north than nearly all of the continental 48!

  11. The laundry basket liner looks fantastic. I have a fabric bag in mine that fits, but doesnt look as great as yours does. Hope your enjoying your winter weather where you are.

  12. LOVE…THE…NEW…BANNER!!! You are so creative! I bet next banner they will be ringing bells like the famous Hershey kisses. ;-) Oh, and I love the laundry basket too! Hugs!

  13. Seriously cute, there Anna! I wish I had a laundry room to fancy up. Mine is in my garage so there isn’t much I can do about it. It’s always a mess.

  14. I would be jumping for joy too if we had some snow! Love the new banner! And love your new laundry basket; so stylish. Good for you for finishing a few UFOs first before starting new projects. That’s what I’m doing too. Well, I’m giving myself the permission to start one project for every UFO finished.

  15. Good thing you are getting snow. We haven’t seen much of it this winter. I’m worried we are going to have another drought.

Love the laundry basket liner. I made a little purse with a three year old I was babysitting today. That is about the only sewing that I’ve done lately. I’ve been working, cleaning, and decorating for Valentine’s Day. It is sure hard to find any nice Valentine’s decor. I’m improvising.

  16. Snow, oh oh! Love your new blog header!

So, so, elegant and sophisticated, to have a lined laundry basket!! Have you ever seen the English TV series Keeping Up Appearances? You remind me a little of Mrs. Bucket (pronounced Bouquet!…)

  17. Yup, definitely BucketAnna from now on. It has never occurred to me that my laundry basket needed a liner. Yours is lovely, though.

And your excited thimbles gave me a big smile!

(Your commenter who’s decorating for Valentine’s Day also impresses me. I’m just pleased to have de-Christmassed the house. Wow.)

  18. Oh, my gosh! I just smiled when I saw your new banner- it’s adorable! Those thimbles do the most interesting things. :) Love your new laundry basket liner! I need to make one for mine so that it stops flattening out and looking like a flying saucer on wheels.
Enjoy your sewing time and the snow this weekend, Anna. Me? I’ll be finally taking down that darn Christmas tree. Oy.

  19. What perfect fabric for a laundry basket! I love it! And unlike your adorable little thimble men, I am not loving the snow. LOL

  20. Your thimbles are completely fabulous! And I’m finishing stuff off too – I finally used a purse frame that’s been sitting in my cupboard for at least two years and I have no idea what took me so long. Of course, this doesn’t bode well for the parcel I promised to send you but that is still sitting in my loving room …

  21. 1) I LOVE those black chairs…I NEED those black chairs for my kitchen. Can I have yours? ;p

    2) I love the happy thimbles in your banner.

    3) Say hello to Shandi for me! ;p

  22. I have a confession.
I have never even seen one “ecstatic thimble”, never mind eleven.
I can’t afford to read your blog. Because now I want a Collapsibe Laundry Basket on wheels, and they are listed for $99.99! That is waaaaay out of my price range for a laundry basket — darn it. But you know this makes it onto my wish list, and I’ll keep googling every once in a while, ’til I find something suitable for less…
Love your liner, especially the retro-inspired novelty fabric . Am I seriously going to have to learn how to quilt? I’ve been afraid of going in that direction, but if I do get a laundry basket on wheels……

  23. First of all, your happy thimbles are SO cute. Second, your laundry basket liner is ADORABLE. The images in that fabric remind me of illustrations in books from my childhood.(Dick and Jane?) I love the way you quilted it.

  24. Love the new header – such happy thimbles! What a cute fabric for your laundry basket liner – just the perfect thing! Dare I say it may make doing the laundry more enjoyable?

  25. All of your fabric creations are awesome! I have your laudry basket liner tutorial bookmarked practically from when you posted it….but I haven’t attempted it yet.

  26. very very cute liner!
and i love your cheering thimbles.
you’re so creative and fun, perhaps you would like to be friends! ahahhahahahaha.
hope you’re having a great weekend.
mine is less than exciting. working on the memorial quilt and had the all day wedding extravaganza yesterday.

  27. Oh my gosh I’m loving those thimbles in the header – way to cute and they make me smile. I have one of those baskets and need to make one of those liners – is it hard Thimbleanna for a wooly girl like me :).

    Hugs – Karen

  28. Oh! That laundry lady fabric is cute, Anna. Love that! Our poor laundry bags need to be replaced, so maybe this is inspiration for me to get started on that project.

  29. Oh! your liner is so great. I have big plans to skirt my laundry tub, once I replace the 50 year old version –
I like the idea of the dryer topper you have – may steal that one.
can’t wait to get my bolts :)

  30. Hey Anna! Love the basket! I am a firm believer that any household chore should be made fun by using pretty/fun things! :) Good to be back reading blogs and blogging again!

  31. That is one cute laundry basket. I’d do laundry if I had a cute basket like that for my clean clothes. Until then, I’ll continue letting hunka do it. lol
