Five on Friday

One.

Poor, Poor Blog.  She’s been so neglected.  It’s been all play and goofing off around here this week, so there hasn’t been much to write about.  Last year, my good buddy Jewels told me that her kitchen re-do took all summer.  I just laughed and thought no way.  Boy, was I out to lunch.  It’s going to take me that long just to make the decisions.  Our kitchen work started today and now we have a hole in the ceiling.  Our range was never vented to the outside, and since we were going to change a few things, we thought we might as well do the venting.  If everything goes this well, it’s going to be a great experience.  The workmen were awesome.  They ran a vent through the kitchen ceiling, floor joists, the linen closet on the second floor, the attic, and the roof.  All in just 4 short hours.  I’m pretty darn sure, nothing else will happen that quickly!

Vent

Two.

During the few evenings  that I was home this week, I got a good start on my UFO applique borders.  Sadly, I thought all of the pieces were already prepped, but, I was about 70 leaves short.

Three.

Quilt market is almost here and I’m so excited I can’t stand it.  I can’t wait to see the Gulls again and show them some of the fantastic things that Utah has to offer!  I’m thinking I might cancel the hotel reservations and we’ll camp out in the mountains, coming down just for market.  That’ll show us what they’re made of, won’t it?  Haha — not really, but wouldn’t that be fun!  Besides, what’s a little mountain lion or bear when you’re used to deadly snakes and alligators?  Anyway, I leave just two weeks from today so that I can spend a day or two with family before market week — Yipee!

Four.

Our local Borders is closing — Boo.  I was in there the other day and managed to pick up Where Women Cook at half price.  I’ve always been interested in the Where Women Do Anything magazines, but this is as close as I’ll get to owning one.  They’re nice magazines, but at fifteen bucks, they’re just too frippin’ salty for me.

Where Women

Five.

It’s been raining all week here.  Here’s proof — I snuck a picture of these hard-core golfers.  You can’t really tell, but it was raining pretty hard.

Rain Golf

Ok. Wait.  I’m sneaking in Six for Friday since it’s almost Easter.  Via Pinterest (I’m officially addicted) I saw pictures of Peep S’mores.  A Must Try.  I think when we have our family Easter Dinner on Sunday, I’ll pin all those skinny people in MyDadLovesMeBestSister’s family to the floor and force them to have a Peep S’more.  Put a little fat on their bones.

Peeps

Ok, that’s it — I hope you have a wonderful weekend.  And since I probably won’t make it back here by Sunday, have a Very Happy Easter — May you find all of your eggs!

XOXO,
Anna

  1. only SEVENTY leaves short?!?

did i ever tell you about the little birdie who fell into my microwave’s vent? shudder.

kiss the gulls for me – and have a safe journey!

p.s. – i’ve tried Peep S’mores and i’m not a fan … well, except for the chocolate part, the graham cracker part, and the Peep part … bwah ha ha!

  2. So the kitchen adventure begins! Good luck!

    Have a wonderful Easter!
    (hmmm….Peeps s’mores……)

  3. The renovations will be a distant memory one day, they’re hard to live with though. Your applique is looking very cute with the bird, keep going on those leaves and have fun at market.

  4. My kitchen progress has stalled – months ago – must get my butt back into gear to get it finished (and find my wallet!)

Our Borders closed over a year ago – sorely missed – home of our knitting group – and great place to spend time on a Sunday morning.

  5. Yay for progress, no matter how small. I can tell yoru applique project is going to be gorgeous. Peeps s’mores? Ack. Gag. Now, if you were making them with a Cadbury chocolate bar……..
I’m glad you will get to visit family while you’re in SLC.
    Have a wonderful Easter, Anna.

  6. Fun photos – sad about borders, but I did get some good buys there before mine closed.
    peep s’mores? great idea!!

  7. Good Luck, you will love it when it is finished. That included me cleaning EVERYTHING from all the dust. Happy Easter xoxo

  8. Happy Easter, Anna! It is such sad news to hear of bookstores closing. I just love spending time in bookstores and finding new treasures that I didn’t even know about. I give a lot of B&N gift cards for graduations, etc., so I hope they stay solvent.

Good luck with your kitchen. Did you ever chose countertop material?

  9. Peep S’mores! Love that idea!! Have a very Happy Easter, Anna!! Enjoy your weekend! All the Borders in my area are closing (or have closed) as well. It’s a shame.

  10. Our Borders is going too but we do have a barnes and noble nearby, lucky us. Easter here with 22 for dinner. My daughter would flip if I put a peeps s’more in front of my granddaughter. Hmmm…
    Happy Easter Anna!

  11. Peep S’mores!!!! Hahahahahahahaah!!!! Something evil and wonderful at the same time. Good luck on your kitchen re-do. I can’t wait to see the pictures.

  12. Well you’re in good company….have you looked at my blog lately! Conceited, aren’t I? I’ll volunteer to be pinned to the floor for a peep s’more! Hope you have a lovely Easter!

  13. lol, my new expression: “I’m about 70 leaves short.” Thank you Miss Thimbleanna!

And this: I’m thinking I might cancel the hotel reservations and we’ll camp out in the mountains, coming down just for market. Everyone would start saying things like this: “Oh, yes, Miss Thimbleanna was okay UNTIL she started a kitchen remodel. Now she’s 70 leaves short. ;0

Thanks for the fun and post pics of the peeps dying for a worthy cause!

  14. Can’t say that the thought of Peep Smores really rings my bell … but I know 2 little girls that will be all over them Sunday afternoon! :) Happy Easter, my bloggy friend.

  15. Yo Anna – Good luck on the rest of the kitchen project – where are you on counter tops. Don’t ya just hate when you pull out a UFO thinking your further than you are and then find out you have to make more of something. Sure looks cute what your showing. Peeps smores – now I love my people peeps – but those sugar peeps – my teeth hurt thinking about them, lol – but hand over the chocolate and I’ll help ya out that way :). Can’t wait to see ya in SLC :)

    Happy Easter – Karen

  16. REnovations always take 4 times as long as the contractor says they will….but the results are so worth the wait.

    Enjoyed your pictures today.

  17. Happy Easter Anna – I’m finding my blog feet again and always touch base with you when I do.

Camping out in the mountains sounds so enticing, I’m trying to book the family summer holiday this month, but it’s proving so difficult! I need to incorporate sun, sea, golf, shopping, vintage craft, avoid flying and all on a budget …

  18. happy easter anna!
i’m off to make some eggs benedict for the kidlets this morning.
hope your weekend with your family is wonderful, and i hope you get to see your boys!!

  19. Peep S’mores! What a great idea! I’ll have to put that on my idea list for next Easter. :)

I’m bummed about Borders closing too. I was in your neck of the woods last week and saw that it was closing. I love bookstores, and it was one of my favorites.

Good luck getting your 70 leaves made! :)

  20. Oh boy your in for some fun. But I gotta say the wait is going to be worth it. I still have nightmares of our kitchen all torn up for months and months. But now I love it!! So hang in there and go for it.
Can’t wait to see you at Market. YIPPEEE It’s going to be so much fun. But you know I am NOT camping out. NO WAY!! I need my pillow fluffed for me everyday. lolol

  21. We’ll one should have a hole in their ceiling, a good start!! I did not know you live in Utah. I have family who does, we are supposed to go visit next spring. Ha, we made peeps smores, the girls OVED them, I was unimpressed ;- ) xoxoxo Clarice

  22. u-oh…all my fingers and toes are crossed that your kitchen adventure will be short & successful (and not a never ending story!)
can’t wait to see your progress on the appliequé quilt…i haven’t hand-appliquéd in ages and feel that i should do it again…it’s so relaxing!

hope you’ve had a wonderful easter weekend!
    julia

p.s.: i’ve tried the peeps…um…they’re SWEEET…but they’re looking cute :) (my sister liked them very much!)

p.p.s.: don’t forget to take many pictures at market! i wish i could go – there are several lines i want to check out :)

  23. Peep smores sound great for easter…my niece brought cbocolate dipped Peeps here yesterday…pretty darn good! Enjoy market!

  24. Only 70 short? dont you hate it when you run out of fingers AND toes when you are counting???

BTW, no alligators in Australia.. just Crocadiles which aren’t as friendly as ‘gators and rogue koalas.. oh and poisonous spiders with the snakes, other than the bogans you are pretty much safe if you avoid all of the above! ask the sheila’s about the bogans *W*

    Lissa
Australia – who has had a reno project on the go for 20 years now.. 20 freaking years..

  25. Just a note about your vent. It sounds like it has had to go a long way to get to the outside. When you are buying your exhaust/rangehood, remember to buy one that has a strong motor that will be able to force the air all the way out. Experience speaking. Good luck with the rest.

  26. I love the peep and smores…second place blog this week I have seen that idea…I would have never thought of it! xoxoxox
