April!

Well. Can. You. Believe. It??? April! How can it be? Maybe the big secret about April Fools is that it’s such a surprise that April could be here already? Did you play a prank? Or get pranked? If so, I hope it was a good one! (And I’d sure love to hear about it — I LOVE a good prank! You seem to hear less and less about good pranks, as someone usually gets in trouble. {Sigh.}) I feel like I’ve been pranked. All of a sudden the days are longer — both in the morning and at night. Just yesterday, I was going to work in the dark and coming home in the dark. I’m so happy to see spring just around the corner here — good riddance you sad, boring {awful} winter.  YAY to shutting the door on winter this year!

I’ve been trying hard to work on some projects but it’s slow going. I’ve been spending a little quality time with Sweet Wolfie and his Lil’ Red friends. I foolishly thought big stitch quilting would be quick — I think this little project has been on the frame for almost two months. That’s ridiculous! I’m hoping to get him off the frame and prepped for binding by the end of the weekend. Fingers crossed!

I’ve also been knitting but can’t show you yet. A certain little expectant mother pops in here on occasion, and I don’t want to ruin any surprises. I’m almost ready to start another little project too. You seasoned knitters out there can probably guess what it is from this picture. Another surprise, so I can’t spill yet.

Thimbleanna: Baby Surprise

I do love a good variegated yarn. Let’s hope this won’t be a mess like the Lorna’s Laces socks.  This yarn is Koigu, so I’m pretty sure I won’t have the pooling problems.  It’s always fun to see how a variegated yarn develops.  I hope this one will be pretty.

So.  Happy April! I hope it’s beautiful weather in your part of the world!

XOXO,
Anna

  1. I love April! And it is surprising once we finally get to it after winter.

Hubby pulled a little prank on me. The 15 mph speed limit sign just before our houses was changed by him with some black tape to 45 mph. The UPS man saw it, but bless him, he didn’t go 45 into our yards!

Love that variegated yarn! Can’t wait to see what you’re knittin.

  2. I think I can guess what that beautiful Koigu is going to be. Maybe I will be just a little ” surprised”. I hope it’s what I think it is. But I don’t want to spoil it. I live Koigu for my sock knitting.

  3. Ok Anna it is spring – how about getting your header changed to a spring theme LOL – your still in winter. April yes it seems to have gotten here quickly in a way after such a weird winter. love your yarn such a pretty color

  4. Happy April and spring to you!! It’s beginning to cool down here in Oz but the autumn colours are beautiful. That yarn is so rich and yummy!

  5. I told my women customers that a movie was being filmed at our local park and Tom Selleck was going to make an appearance. Tom Selleck from Magnum P.I.
90% of the women fell for it. Even after we had been talking about April Fool’s jokes.
    — As in enraptured. Ready to text their girlfriends too.
Didn’t have the same luck with the guys and Cameron Diaz.

  6. Ha, you’re not the only one who was taken by surprise. I can’t believe that we are already at the beginning of April either. How is that even possible? Anyway, it looks like you are keeping yourself busy with all sorts of lovely projects.

  7. that yarn is so gorgeous!! can’t wait to see the secret baby knitting going on. can you ‘block’ sweetie pie until the baby is due? just kidding. ;p

  8. I love the yarn – looking forward to seeing how it knits up. Somebody forgot to tell the weather that it is spring – it is decidedly wet and dreary here in Berwick this morning, hopefully it will be better when we get home to Hawick later this morning, and maybe even the sun will shine when I go to Kelso this afternoon!!

  9. I got pranked by my little niece who refused candy for the first time ever and just as I was about to swoon from shock started laughing like a monkey, grabbed the candy and reminded me that it was April’s fool day. Who told her about it?

  10. I think I know what your new project’s going to be! Color pooling is an appropriate reference for April Fool’s Day; perhaps since you snuck passed the actual day, your colors will turn out lovely. :o)

  11. We’ve been having spectacular Autumn weather – cool nights and warm, sunny days. Just perfect! Your projects look intriguing. You might need to take bigger stitches with your quilting to make it go quicker (just a hint!) xx

  12. Auntia pranked me – she told me that the City of Denver sold the naming rights for the Broncos stadium to a marijuana distributor – and the new name was gonna be Native Roots at Mile High … i don’t think it’s that bad of an idea – it’s not like THEY are gonna be declaring bankruptcy any time soon, and any advertising agency worth its salt could have a GREAT TIME coming up with slogans … anyway, she had me totally convinced and i was SO DISAPPOINTED to learn the truth – ha ha ha!!!

that yarn is so yummy looking!

and i can hardly wait to see what you’ve come up with for SweetiePie Jr…

  13. Such pretty project and the yarn is just yummy. i was walking through our calendar with my husband and before I knew I was saying and then for July 4th….

  14. I think Mother Nature pranked us all into thinking it is Spring – because it is snowing again today. April 8. And no signs of warmer weather until maybe next week. Oh well, I can wait…. I hope the plants and trees can. They are all budded out and starting to grow. So hurry up with the knitting because we all can’t wait to see it. That yarn is beautiful!!!

  15. That yarn is gorgeous–I hope it turns out!
And I hate it when you tease us with projects. :-P
