A Great Weekend

So, do you remember last time I won a blog giveaway that I won three times?  It’s happened again.  Apparently my luck runs in threes.  These three wins have been fantastic and I’m SO lucky!  After the quilt, I won a copy of Victoria from Sweet Cottage Dreams.  I love Becky’s blog — she’s so sweet and is always up to something fun.  I haven’t seen a copy of Victoria since they started re-publishing and I’m particularly excited about this issue.  The front cover has one of my all time favorite 7-letter words — British.  Yum!  Thank You Becky — I’m sure to enjoy this issue!

Victoria

And then, I won a fun prize package over at Pieceful Chaos.  Caryn sent me some really fun stuff — a cute 2010 mousepad calendar, a pretty fall notepad, a lovely packet of potpourri, and an adorable scissors fob.  I love Caryn’s blog too — I’ve been reading it for a long time and she’s always sewing something pretty.

From Caryn

I have no idea how she knew I needed a scissors fob, but I was pretty desperate.  A few years ago, when I was sewing with friends, I grabbed a scrap of fabric to tie to my scissors so that everyone would know they were my little scissors.  I LOVE my new scissors fob.  It’s just perfect for me — the cute little charm says Love Often on one side and Laugh Much on the other side.  I love anything that tells me to laugh more — I think we all need to laugh more often.  Look how pitiful my scissors looked before their sexy makeover:

FobCombo

Thank You Caryn.  I LOVE all the goodies.  THANK YOU to both of you for being so generous and for being such fun blog pals!

I hope you’ve all had a good weekend.  Mine was perfect.  I made like a hermit all day yesterday and stayed inside quilting while the beautiful sunlight streamed through the window.  Today, I spent the afternoon with MeMum — we watched a few more installments of Monarch of the Glen and did handwork on our respective bindings.

Blueberry Pie

Before I went to MeMum’s, I made a blueberry pie (oops, the shell cracked!)  I found a new recipe that I wanted to try.  It called for ground tapioca to be added to the blueberries for thickener.  I was very hopeful, as I’m not a fan of runny pies.  I’m thinking maybe cornstarch would have been better, as it was pretty runny.  Oh well, it was delicious — more sauce for the ice cream, right?

Blueberry Pie

I’m sad to see a perfect weekend come to an end, but I’m looking forward to the week.  I’m really looking forward to catching up on blog reading — I’m really far behind!  Next time, I promise, there will be an actual quilt on this blog!

XOXO,
Anna

  1. First of all, congratulations on all of your wins!!! You should expect more. Did you read what Kellie wrote? Everyone should send you gifts because you are oh, so greatful!!! LOL!

That pie looks wonderful! Homemade doesn’t always mean pictue perfect, just plain old delicious. Wish I had a piece right now!
    xo

  2. Lucky you!!! :o)) Love the scissor fob..:o) Still waiting for your grand win…hey??? Still happy dancing?? I know I would..:o)
The pie looked so deliscious.. even if the blueberries ran… bet it was sweet and yummy!!! Have a great week!!

  3. I’m poppin’ on over for a piece of blueberry pie. I’m going to sit on the porch and read that magazine, and you can just sit there and fan me.
Congratulations on your wins! You’ve got to be the luckiest girl ever. Either that, or they all love you and then pretend it was a *random* drawing and choose YOU. I’m voting for the latter.
    :waves madly

  4. I’ve never had blueberry pie, must try it one day.
It looks delicious. Congratulations on your great lucky wins. You’ll feel like you’ve won all over again when you get Kellie’s quilt in Novemeber!

  5. Seems like I haven’t visited in soooooooooooooo long. Awesome winnings there. I hate runny pies and I’m glad to know this. I have been wanting to try tapioca as a recipe calls for it, but I can never get up enough never to.

  6. Lucky girl! Love the sexy scissor make-over. LOL. Sexy scissors. LOL. The blueberry pie looks yummy! My husband’s favorite. One of these days, I will have to make him one. Right now, that is left for his mom to do.

  7. What thoughtful gifts you’ve received.

I must say, though, it’s the pie that caught my eye :) It looks delicious. I am a fan of (slightly) runny fruit pies….for exactly the reason you mentioned. More sauce for my ice cream!!

    Have a good week.

  8. Congratulations on all of your winnings! I used to use tapioca in pies until I found instant clear jel – works like a charm!

  9. Hi Lucky Anna, thanks for the link to Sweet Cottage Dreams. What a cute blog! I hope your week is as perfect as the weekend. You sure can’t beat this weather! Anne

  10. Just read Brigette’s comment. Gasp! I never thought of that. I live in my own little “happy bubble” where things like that never could happen! All is completely fair and straight up in the land of You Go Girl! LOL! That girl cracks me up.

Oh, and if you’re serving pie and fanning people while they read magazines and stuff, can I come over too?

    Waving wildly like Brigette~
    Cassie (again)

  11. Brigette’s idea would be a great way to assuage any guilt you might feel for being SO lucky! So, count me in for pie, Victoria reading, and fanning on your porch! One thing though: I get the bigger piece of pie, I get to read the magazine first, and you have to tend to my fanning requirements before hers, BECAUSE—She still hasn’t posted on her new blog, and, as I pointed out to her [as politely as I could], we’re not getting any younger!!

  12. Things always come in 3s I guess! Congrats on your wins… and my weekend was utterly perfect too! We can share in that at least!!! HUGS!

  13. What great treats! I was sad to see the weekend end as well. What a tasty pie- I always find myself increasing the amount of corn starch to avoid runny pies.

  14. How fun that you’re such a lucky winner. I’m really happy that you’re receiving all these exquisite blessings. That pie in your photograph, oh my, it makes my mouth water.

  15. um…
do you happen to have a mailing address for molly?
i thought maybe she could use a few prunes.
my grandparents used to eat those when they got all backed up….

  16. Wow aren’t you the lucky girl!! So your before picture is my right now picture of my scissors…only mine have the fabric string so the kiddos know that these are the “touch them and you die” scissors lol! Your pie looks yummy…hoping for large stitch quilty pics soon… :)

  17. Your on a roll sweetie with your wins and what wonderful wins you received. I love those scissor fobs. I have 2 and would love more, because you know a sewer can’t have enough scissors :). The pie looks yummmmy and some sauce to go with the ice cream – perfect.

    Hugs – Mrs. Farmhouse

  18. I love all your winnings you lucky girl. I guess you didn’t enter Barb’s giveaway cuz I won that one!! Tee Hee! Your pie looks yummy. Did you save me a piece or did you eat the whole thing by yourself?

  19. Lucky you Anna winning all those prizes. Your blueberry pies looks delicious. Monarch of the Glen is one of my all time favourite tv shows too!

  20. Those are lovely prizes, Anna . . . and that blueberry pie looks best of all. lol Thanks so much, too, for the chuckle I got out of “Love Often” and “Laugh Much”. The photo shows the laughter side of the charm, and says “Laugh Often”, which would mean the other side says “Love Much”. hee heh heh . . . Love Often made me think of a string of broken hearts behind you, as you laughed your way through life. ;o)

    Have a great week!

  21. Lucky lady – those are lovely giveaways that you’ve won. The blueberry pie looks gorgeous – I love blueberries as pies, muffins, sauce, in cereals or any which way. My friend always gets Blueberry Morning cereal in for me when I visit:)

  22. Congratulations on winning all of the giveaways. Sweet loot. :)
Blueberry pie is a favorite of mine, as is Monarch of the Glen! Love that show. :)
