WooHoo Wednesday!

By the time we get to Wednesday evening every week I’m ready to start partying — we’re over half-way through the week and the weekend will soon be here. Especially this week — only one more day of work and then I’m off work for over a week — BIG WooHoo!!! I can’t wait — I have tons of stuff planned, probably only 10% of which will actually be accomplished. There’s sure to be lots of cooking and cleaning and I can’t wait. The kids will all be home for Thanksgiving. That means lots of fun too!

Do you think I should start by removing the laundry basket from the edge of the sofa?

Couch

Fatso has decided that his perch should be on the back of the couch and it’s ruining the cushion.  Anyone have any bright ideas for Fat Cat Training?  Here’s Mr. Portly himself.  Looking rather guilty if you ask me.

Scruff

In other news, I’m almost done with my Bliss quilt.  (More WooHoo!)  It’s halfway put together — just a few more hours and it will be ready for quilting.  It used almost a whole fat quarter tower — there were strips that were 4 or 5 inches x 18 inches left of each print.  Too small for my quarter yard stacks in the stash, but too big for my scrap boxes.  So, I folded them all up and squished them together into a cubby.  I really like them there — so pretty.

Bliss

Ooooh, and while I’m in the sewing room, look at this adorable 2012 Flash Card Calendar that I just received.  Isn’t it cute? It’s just like those old-timey flashcards — you know, from way before my time LOL.   I’m going to take it to work to hang over my desk — hopefully it will add a little cheer to my boring workspace.

Calendar

Ok. Back in a few days — hopefully with a quilt for a change!
XOXO,
Anna

  1. I love Bliss, another big pile of fabric waiting for me…oh and I just added a tower of Ruby to go with it..I am pathetic! But happy!

  2. Ha that basket would never last on our couch. Ms. Cami enjoys her perch there and would either cry till I took it off (who’s trained here I ask you) or push it off with her snoot. I’ve put a quilt up there so that at least that takes the brunt of her weight – it does help the cushion. Can’t wait to see your quilty goodness. BTW kitty seems to be saying “you talking to me”, lol.

  3. well hello there deary.
my old boss has that same cubby thingymabob that you have your bliss in. i love love love your flashcard calendar. i am going to have to get me one o’ doze.
    well… happy wednesday my friend.
    hugs and smooches.

  4. The boys are back in town (or will be) woohoo! I love Thanksgiving but will have to wait until Christmas to have my family together. Bliss looks fabulous in that cubby…I love that shade of pink.

  5. We have a fat white cat named Jack living here. He belongs to Ru. No suggestions whatever, ours does just exactly as he pleases, as does Chloe. That is the charm and the curse of cats.

Have fun with your family! And can’t wait to see your new quilt.

  6. Hi Anna from Dublin Ireland!
I have recently got the ‘ quilters bug ‘ having completed my first one last night.
I somehow found my way to your blog ( Having never read a blog before).
I just love my new hobby as the women I quilt with are the nicest most sincere people I have ever met .
I am useless on computers so I don’t even know if you will get this.
    Happy Thanksgiving from Ireland
    Warmest regards,
    Mary

P S I have a dog called Sam who sits on my couch. He’s the King of the Castle up there!!

  7. Whoooo … falshcard flashback … I used to have to go to a special office to do flashcard work on my letters with a Mrs Ansel who wore orange crimplene, pale pink lipstick had a ginger bouffant hair do.
It’s amazing I can spell at all.

    :-)

  8. That fabric looks so cute in your little cubby! As for the cat, when we were trying to get ours to stop getting on the furniture, we would spray her with water. It didn’t take long for her to stop.

  9. Anna, Sabrina and Sophie each pick a spot on the back of the sofa’s too! LOL

Enjoy your time off with the family, hope you get a lot accomplished. xoxo

  10. We have a (very) portly cat too and he used to think the back of the couch was his personal space. But I had the couch recovered last spring, not because of him, just was no longer in love with the fabric, and ever since then he hasn’t been lying up there – at least that I’m aware of! LOL. But mainly because I just didn’t let him on the couch at all. A rather expensive solution but seems to be working. The water bottle would be cheaper!
Looking forward to seeing your Bliss quilt!
    Happy Thanksgiving!

  11. My cats do the same on the back of the couch. I have a couple of blankets folded up there for our enjoyment on chilly days but they use them as their bed. Fine by me. Funny thing is, I took the blankets down to be washed and one of the cats jumped up to their perch, realized their ‘bed’ wasn’t there and left to find a new place to nap. Maybe if you drape a quilt or something there, he’ll find a new place to relax. Can’t wait to see your Bliss quilt!

  12. One thing you could try to keep the kitty off the couch: double-sided tape. Put some strips of it where he loves to lounge, it should help to deter him.

Plus, it can easily be removed/replaced as needed (covered in kitty fluff, or when company comes over)

    Good luck!

  13. Hi Anna, love bliss, love your cubby and can’t wait to see your quilt!! We used to have a little dog that like to do that, it’s a hard habit to break..Enjoy your time off and spending time with your family!!

  14. I want those cubbies!!! Can’t wait to see the quilt. Have a great weekend. P.S. Your laundry basket looks like a vignette to me ;)

  15. Oh I’m so jealous about the week off! I am trying to make Shelbie take off Wed. to help me cook and clean but I realize that isn’t fair. But I’m not too proud to ask. We are having some Thanksgiving drama in the family so I can’t say I’m 100% looking forward to it. But I hope it works out. And Allison will be here as her parents are leaving her with me to shop after they eat Thanksgiving and then picking her up Sat. So that will be fun. It will be fun for you to use your new kitchen for the holiday.

  16. A friend of mine fills a spray bottle with water and douses the cats when they do something naughty. She only has to lay her hand on the bottle now and they cease and desist! Looking forward to seeing the Bliss quilt. By the way, I could always baby sit the rest of that fat quarter tower for you……..

  17. What a sweet little calendar! Love your Bliss display. It’s the sweetest fabric, only to be rivaled by Ruby. Yay for a vacation for you. You need it after market! lol
I hope you have a lovely Thanksgiving, Anna!

  18. Hooray for the weekend and vacation week! About tubby….no solutions except get a brand new washable slipcover. Or put a sign on it that says “Fatso’s Chair” and forget about it.

Can’t wait to see the new quilt!!!!!

  19. oh you enabler you!! i clicked every linky poo and want a new thimble as well… love our banner and most of all loved FINALLY meeting you at market…even if it was brief!

  20. Ohhh.. Love your cute fabric display.. NICE… eye candy is GOOD!! So is the gorgeous calender…
For the cat.. sorry no advices.. any advice for a dog chewing on pillows??? lol…

  21. I hope you had some quilting time this weekend. I can’t wait to see your Bliss quilt!

I have nothing to say about your laundry basket. At least yours is empty. Mine is full of clean clothes and is still sitting on the blanket chest outside my bedroom door. I just rifle through it when I need something to wear ;)

  22. How how well I know the couch dent from what we call “chubby kitties”. I love your basket solution.
I received my moda card, so glad I got it!
thanks for the extras, I’ve been using the snips all day on a new quilt project at the machine
