Un-Productive

OhMyGosh.  I need to post just to get that Happy New Year greeting by Winston to move down a bit.  Holy Smokes — the year is getting away from me already, and we’ve barely started.

To be fair, our year hasn’t started off great.  BigDaddy had a fender bender just after my last post.  He’s fine and was lucky to land with only a few broken ribs and a broken nose.  I know it’s awful of me to say it, but the raccoon look was kind of cute on him!  He was in the hospital for a few days and now he’s in a rehab center — mostly just to learn how to get around a little better and to help the soreness wear off.  It’s meant a lot of time shuffling MeMum back and forth and visiting.  Good thing I have my Trip Around the World to keep me busy — I toss it in my little basket and it’s a great portable project — even though it’s getting big now.  I’m on row 36, but these last rows are so slow, I’ll be lucky to be on row 40 by this time next year!

My basket makes me feel like Little Red Riding Hood, which is perfect since a bunch of Little Red Riding Hood fabric has arrived this week.  I’ve started a little project featuring Little Red and Grandma — that  Grandma is just too darn cute!  It’s the Little Red line by Cori Dantini and I love it!  I have big plans for her, but I’m waiting on some more of the fabric before I can keep working on this little quilt.

And there’s another Little Red fabric out — Moda has a new line called Lil’ Red by Stacy Iest Hu.

Look at that cute wolfie.  He’s just full of love, isn’t he LOL???  I don’t have a plan for this line yet, but I’m sure something will happen sooner or later.  I do have one fat quarter pack left though, and it’s in my etsy shop, in case any of you are interested.  Lots of cute coordinating prints!

And finally, I was very sad to read that Alan Rickman passed away this week.  So many of you posted on Instagram about his movie Truly Madly Deeply and now I really want to see it.  I can’t find anywhere to rent it though — if you have any suggestions, I’d love to hear them.  I also saw this picture on a blog — even though he never really said the “Always” quote that so many people attribute to him, I love the sentiment.  If only it truly could be 1946 – Always.

Ok kiddies. I hope your January is proving more productive than mine. At least our days are getting longer, right?
Have a great weekend!
XOXO,
Anna

  1. so many stars/singers have died – they are just dropping like flies! loved Alan Rickman – love your Red Riding Hood fabric — hope your dad gets better fast!! no fun not moving very well

  2. Sorry to hear about your Dad. Even ‘little fender benders’ can be traumatic and it sounds like your Dad got beat up a bit. Hope his recovery continues without incident and that he can come home soon.
It was a sad week re: celebrity deaths. All so young, though most ages seem young to me lately. I just checked Amazon and you can purchase the movie for $393.95. You know, if you get desperate on a snow day. I did like him, especially in Sense and Sensibility. So many great roles opposite Emma Thompson.
Not mentioning the TATW. Fingers in ears. La-la-la…

  3. Happy New Year! Hope your father is better. Sounded more serious than a fender bender. I was sorry to hear about Alan Rickman. One of my favorites (Love Actually). I had never heard of Truly Madly Deeply. I Googled it and it looks like it’s on You Tube. I’m going to watch it now. Love your Little Red Riding Hood!!

  4. Oh golly! Poor BigDaddy and his broken ribs and nose owie. Ribs hurt like the devil you know! I just had a bruised rib last year and it was hurtful for a long, long time. I hope he gets to feeling better, at least tolerable, soon.

Cute red riding hood fabs. You’re gonna be such a good granny!!

  5. So sorry about your Dad, but really glad he’s not badly hurt. It is always scary when something like that happens to one you love. Makes you feel helpless.

LRRH is SO cute – both versions. I have a panel STILL in the stash I need to use at some point.

  6. Love that Lil’ Red fabric line! The quote by Alan Rickman “Always…” is from the final Harry Potter movie; his character was in love with Harry’s mother and when his character revealed that to the school Headmaster when Harry was a teen, the Headmaster said, “Still?” and Alan’s character replied, “Always”. :) Snowy days are good for Harry Potter movies…. :) Prayers for a speedy recovery for your father!

  7. Super cute fabric! I am due another visit to the WB studio tour – the potions room won’t be the same. Off to catch up on all your news, been so slack at blogging lately… so happy ypu are still posting regularly!

  8. Oh – your poor Dad. Give him a (very gentle) hug from me. I just had a quick look at Amazon (UK) and they wanted a fortune for a DVD of Truly Madly Deeply!

  9. I saw Truly Madly Deeply years ago when it was in theaters and that was when I completely fell for Alan Rickman and his amazing, make-you-go-weak-in-the-knees voice. Think I’ll head over to YouTube as your other reader mentioned. Best wishes for Big Daddy to continue mending.

  10. Oh dear, so sorry to hear about your dad. Just what you all needed. Poor him and poor you. (Not that I really know what a fender bender is but I assume he hit something with the bumper of his car? This language thing is complicated… .)

  11. Sorry to hear about your Dad. It’s been a hard couple of years for your parents (and you too). I’m in not so sunny AZ right now. Not missing the snow at all. Love love the red riding hood prints. You have good reason to be cranking out some baby quilts!

  12. Oh your poor dad. Broken ribs are so so painful – I hope he’s doing okay.
I was really saddened to hear about Rickman too. I loved him Love Actually and Sweeny Todd. His duet with Johnny Depp is inspired.
cute eye candy fabric and show us your TATW soon!

  13. So sorry about Big Daddy. Will keep him in my prayers. The fabrics are all so very adorable! You’re inspiring me for a new quilt….hugs

  14. Tell me about a neglected blog?! At least you have Pat Sloan posting comments! ;) So sorry to read about 2016 not starting on the right foot! Sigh …! Want company? The fabric is lovely. You are so good at making it all look so beautiful! Now I want that panel but I really do not need it! I still have some cute Zombie fabric that I haven’t event taken the ribbon off the bundle! lol Cheers! That dang spanner box!!! lol I’m not a spanner but could be a robot? At least I can answer honestly!

  15. Hope your poor dad gets better soon. Love your quilt and the Alan Rickman tribute.
Thank you so much for your kind comments recently x
    Wishing you a happy weekend.

  16. Your Little Red Riding Hood fabric is amazing, Anna, I must get some. Hope your dad is back home by now. I also find, in time of family troubles, that crafting is a great and soothing help.

  17. Uh-oh, sorry there was an accident. Hope he is recovering ok by now. Broken ribs have a way of REALLY being painful. Love the fabrics in the pix! And lastly, I adored Alan Rickman in Sense & Sensibility as Colonel Brandon. Swoon.

  18. Sorry to hear about your dad accident, hope he feels better soon!!! Love the new Lil’ Red line…and anything Cori Dantini…I just want every panel! I see your working on your TAW project. I am hand quilting my Kaffe Fassett sampler right now, not doing anything until its done! Ha, NOT! Stay warm!

  19. January flew by in a blink!! I hope BigDaddy is okay and is getting well quickly. Your basket of stitching is such a pretty sight as are all those sweet fabrics.

  20. I am worried about you. Are you or a family member sick? I know it must be something serious for you to not post. I will keep you in my prayers.
