Sunkissed Laundry Basket Liner

Hi Kids!  Remember that little Sunkissed sneaky peak from a few weeks ago?  Well, it’s finally finished. But first, I thought I should tell you that I’ve found a new favorite thing. I LOVE the vintage-looking wire laundry basket from United Notions.  I love that it’s on wheels.  I have a fairly small laundry room, but there’s just enough room for this laundry basket.  I like to put my newly-dried clothes into it and wheel it out to my kitchen table where I fold all of our clothes.

Laundry Basket

I thought it might be fun to add a liner to the basket so I played around with my Sunkissed fabrics. I really had fun with the grommets too — there are 18 of them in this liner and it’s kind of fun to beat them into submission with a hammer!  I added a rope to the liner, but you could easily use a big ribbon.  I also left the knot on the outside, but it could be put in between the layers of the liner too — that way it would be hidden from view.  There are so many different ways you could make this liner — ruffles, scallops, ric rac — I really had to control myself.

Laundry Liner

So, two really important things about this laundry basket:

  • You can get the instructions on how to make it at the Moda Bakeshop, and
  • I’ve listed the laundry basket in the Thimbleanna.com store on my Fun Stuff page. That’s the page where I list my very favorite things.

Have a great weekend!
XOXO,
Anna

  1. That is very impressive sewing there Missus but that is a FABULOUS basket! (I wonder if they would ship internationally?!?)

  2. Your cute little wired basket would make a lovely project basket, it could be wheeled discretely away when not in use, or moved from room to room. I love the liner – great job!

I’ve been looking for a new laundry basket for almost a year now – nothing is ever quite big / nice enough as it would have to service the whole family. I really like vintage Lloyd Loom, but darn it they’re just not roomy enough..

  3. Oh, my gosh, girlfriend! Congratulations on being in the Bake Shop! I have had one of those baskets around my house for years. It’s holding quilts and blankets in the family room right now. I think it’s time to send it back to the laundry room, complete with a cheery Thimbleanna lining. You. Are. Awesome. :)

  4. I love it!! I totally get beating the grommets into submission. I made a shower curtain about 14 years ago and have not made anything with grommets since. That tells you how much I loved them. But yours, I really love, it is cute functional and I didn’t have to do the beating!!

  5. I’m in love…That is the coolest laundry basket I have ever seen. Congrats on being featured over at the Moda Bake Shop!

  6. Congrats on the Bake Shop love, and the basket looks adorable. However it doesn’t look like it would hold a Novak family load of laundry ;-)

  7. That is the cutest laundry basket I’ve ever seen! What a clever and creative idea. You never cease to amaze me. :) And big congratulations on being featured at the Moda Bake Shop. :)

  8. I saw this on the MBS! WAY COOL!! I think I want one of these baskets for my sewing room! AND I’ll make the liner. Off to check out United Notions now!

  9. A little cute goes a long way even when you’re doing laundry, no? Love the basket, Anna. Wouldn’t it make great storage for fabric bits and pieces or yarn, too? Just in case you don’t feel like doing laundry.

  10. There are so many levels of cute with your laundry basket. I love the vintage look alone, but you’re liner is so cheery. I need you to come to my house and choose fabric for me. I know what I like, but I don’t feel like I know how to put colors together.

  11. We have owned five homes in th 42 years we have been married. Does Jean ever get a laundry room? Oh, No!!!!!! Stuck in the messy garage. I would love one of these, if only….

    You did a great job!!

  12. Another cute project from Ms T-Anna! Love the fabrics but it would be nice in any combination. Congrats on the Moda Bake Shop feature! You rock!

  13. Hey I just picked up an antique one of those last summer at an outdoor antique show. I have it in the store and a liner sure would be cute. Leave it to you sister to make a laundry basket so dang adorable. Could even make laundry fun – no wait what was I thinking, LOL. I love it and look at you – a designer for the bake shop. You just ROCK girl :) CONGRATS on that.

  17. Let me add my congrats to you contributing to Moda Bake Shop. Love the liner you added to the adorable laundry basket. I’m thinking that would be useful in the sewing room, too.

  18. Aaaaah!! Can I have your autograph. Think I need a photo of you and me to add to the collection of other famous designers like Amy, Kaffe and Anna Maria….

It’s gorgeous and I love the basket too!

  19. Well Missie, you’ve taken an already gorgeous basket and made it even more beautiful! It’s lovely, hope you have fun with it. Do you wheel it all around the house?!!!!

  20. Anna, that is beyond CUTE! You must have put some type of inner stiffening (the name escapes me at the moment!) to make it stand up so nicely. That will be a fun laundry basket.

  21. The header is so cute. Love the basket. Lori has one like that. The liner is amazing. You do things with such class. Such finishing touches that make things unique. Love that.

  22. Oh that is fabulous – it reminds me of one of those scary, rather sick-making fairground rides where you stand up in a huge rotating drum. Yours is a very pretty version (without flashing lights).

  23. Yay, Anna! This is super duper fantasic! Congrats on being featured on the bakeshop. I was so excited to see your post there. The laundry basket with cover is amazing!!! You do great work!
