In Like a Lion

Well Hello March!  The month when spring officially begins in the northern hemisphere.  There are no signs of spring around here though.   March has arrived deeply entrenched in winter — and it’s probably no surprise that I love it!  We had another small storm last night and it’s a winter wonderland out there today.  Big, beautiful, white, sticky snow.  I should have gone out there and built a snowman!

Thimbleanna: Snow

Instead, I spent the day playing around in the sewing room.  I tried to clean and organize a bit, but you’d hardly know it.  I desperately need some organizational skills LOL.  I also sewed a bit and played around with the latest batch of Liberty fabrics.  I’d been waiting until the more masculine prints arrived so that I could make a boy version from Amy’s sweet little bib pattern.

Thimbleanna: Liberty Bib

Clearly, a ruffle would not do for a boy, so I added a little bow tie.  I love that Checkmate print from Liberty — it’s just perfect.

And I used a blue alphabet print for the back of the bib.  I’ve hoarded had that print almost since my boys were babies themselves.

And here’s my favorite part — Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dee.  Ohmygosh, I love the little Alice in Wonderland characters — they’re all just too cute!

I worked on some quilt blocks too, but more on those later.  Have a wonderful week!

XOXO,
Anna

  1. I can well understand how the sight of all the clean pristine snow would encourage some housework :-)
I just love your bibs! They are so pretty and the fabrics work so well together, adorable.

  2. You could have made Tweedledee and Tweedledum snowmen! but I can see how a cosy sewing room and fun fabric is much more enticing. The addition of a bow tie is so cute.

  3. I adore the Alice in Wonderland bibs you’ve made, last time I went into Liberty a few weeks ago they didn’t have any in! Can’t wait to see your blocks

  4. Lovely snow, Anna … but please don’t send it our way! :o)

Cool bib! Any wee boy would be proud to wear it!

  5. The snow does look beautiful from the WINDOW! Ha. The bibs are so cute, love all of the fabrics. And if by chance you find some organizational skills send them to my part of the city. (lacking over here for sure) xoxoxo

  6. so cute! the bibs are very original looking. Where everyone else is saying they are sick of snow you say you love it!! It is pretty and the wet heavy snow is perfect for making a snowman or throwing snowballs – I remember the fun as a child playing in that kind of snow – what memories of my huge family of brothers and sisters in the snow building forts and snowball fights

  7. Still cold and wintry here too. I like your cute bibs and the boy bib is very darling. I love fiddling around with sewing when it’s cold outside.

I love your blog so much & get inspired. The bibs are adorable! Thanks Anna for sharing your life….Stay warm.

  9. I love the handiwork on your bibs, they have such careful quilting. They are so adorable, I hope babies have their pictures taken with these bibs before they get stained with baby carrots or beets!

  10. Hooray for Spring, though not for all that snow – I hope it melts away soon and you find lots of buds poking through the soil in it’s place. Love that little bow tie – an inspired touch!

  11. hate the snow. well i don’t HATE it, because it’s not at my house. I like to DRIVE to the snow when i want snow and then leave it behind! love the bibs. and it’s darling that you added a bow tie for the boy bib. i wouldn’t be me if i didn’t give you a hard time for hoarding country blue fabric from the 80’s.
can’t wait to see your blocks. i hope they are out of LIBERTY. we always need new ideas for Liberty!!!!
    :waves madly

  12. I love the sweet bibs….the ruffle is so pretty and the bow tie is an adorable idea for a little boy’s bib. Love how you have used the Liberty fabrics.
    Happy March!

  13. I love, love, love, those bibs. I made some for some of the grand-kids and had fun making them. We haven’t had any storms since the first of the year, but we still have snow on the ground.

  14. Very lovely bibs but do hold on to that snow that you like so much, won’t you? We’re having spring here and I don’t want to discourage it.
