I Got Nut ‘n Honey

I was going to title this post “It’s Dead Jim.”* Our computer has really been acting up tonight and the video card appeared to be dead. Somehow, it revived itself (well, ok, TheManoftheHouse worked some sort of magic.) Then our internet service was down. An hour on the phone and more ManoftheHouse magic fixed that too. Sometimes that ManoftheHouse comes in pretty handy!

So, instead, I’ve got nuttin’. Not much blogworthy going on around here. I did hang a little chandelier up in the dungeon. The kid’s old school had their yearly auction and they decorated with tons of these little chandeliers. After the event they always sell the decorations, so I snapped one up for a ridiculous price, considering the darn thing is plastic.

Chandelier

Whatever … it adds a lot of cheer to the dungeon, hanging above my cutting table. You’re getting the chandelier level view, ’cause if I gave you the view from the floor, all you would see is floor joists. (The dungeon is an unfinished room that I share with the furnace — swanky, we’re not!)

For those of you who love pictures and taking pictures, check out this short little video that I love. (Sorry, I tried to embed the video box, but I can’t get it to work.)

There’s a longer (6 minute) version here, if you have the time. I also enjoyed this 1960s Kodak video. Pass the kleenex please!

XOXO,
Anna

* Dr. Spock says that to Captain Kirk in Star Trek. What can I say, I work with a bunch of nerds.

  1. That does look swanky, no matter what you say!

On an unrelated note, our video card crapped out last week – perhaps it’s in the atmosphere!

  2. Computer probs are the absolute pits. But your litte chandelier is adorable….and plastic? wow, it doesn’t look it.

ps. I love me a little sci fi quote! Live long and prosper!

  3. My “studio” (ha! can’t hardly say *that* with a straight face) is a dungeon as well. We do have a ceiling, but it is not the shiny space I see folks sporting about the blogosphere. But we make do, eh?

Any way, love the chandelier! A perfect way to brighten the dungeon! :)

  4. Ditto from over here, doesn’t look plastic to me. In fact, its quite pretty. And I got the trekky reference….I used to be one of those nerds. Probably still am. LOL!

  5. Oh, I think your chandelier is just perfect! I enjoyed the video clips, thanks for sharing those. I had not ready the post before this one and that it a magnificant quilt!

  6. I love the title of your post – took me a while to work it out though!!!!

Had computer problems myself today – clicked on a deleted message on someone’s blog and a whole load of anti-virus stuff started going mental so have had to buy new anti-virus software and get the whole system checked out – curiosity killed this cat!!!

  7. My sentiments exactly! I aint got notin’ either! Must be going around. Nice chandelier btw! (I caught a peek of your folded fabric in the chandelier photo, looks good!)

  8. Love those kodak moments, I needed tissue for the first one! and the chandelier does spiff the place a bit, eh?

  9. I’m having computer woes, too. The lid on my lap top won’t stay up unless I prop it just so. I have to be careful not to let it slam down on my fingers. LOL! It also flops all the way open if someone sits down next to me on the couch. I guess I’m just not desperate enough to buy a new computer…yet.

  10. That isn’t fair- I’ve been searching far and wide for a chandelier, but so far no luck yet (and my searching, I mean thrifting) :-) Might have to have you send one my way! Love yours!

  11. Now isn’t that just purty, a little elegance for the dungeon. Hey your worth it sister and I LOVE it.

Hugs to you sparkly girl :)

  12. You would never know it was plastic. Is that fabric I see neatly stacked on shelf? It looks like a fabric shop in there (minus the floor joist, and the furnace of course). From this vantage point it seems like a lovely place to work…not bad for a dungeon.

    Take care,

    Cherri

  13. I have a chandelier in my bedroom…it is plastic too I think. The short video is lovely, being a photographer, I understand what was being said.

I am just catching up on your blob. I just read “I am”. All I can say is that your youngest niece borrowed my mascara for a play and I had to resort to putting on clumpy, waterproof stuff today. It’s a good thing – don’t ever let me read something like that at work again! I am happy to know that you do remember being mean to me in high school!!

  15. Anna, you put Martha to shame! That chandelier is loveliness, especially hanging over your head while you slave away slicing and dicing fabric. I want one now!!! Even the “dungeon” deserves a touch of class, right?
I love that commercial – thanks for sharing!
I knew as soon as I saw “It’s dead Jim” where it was from. I am a Trekkie, so I guess that makes me a nerd, too! A happy one at that!!
