B-o-o-o-ring

Holy Schmokes!  Another week has whizzed by.  Time’s flying and I’m not even having that much fun!  It scares me to think what it will be like when there is a lot of fun going on around here.

We did get some rain though. Woohoo!   They say it’s no impact on the drought, but my flowers sure seemed happy.  It seems like I’m wasting spending a lot of time watering this year.  At least the garden is happy.  If you remember, here it was a month ago…

And here it is now.  It’s getting crowded in there.

And look at my pretty zinnias!  I love zinnias, they’re SO happy and colorful!

Garden

It’s not all fun and games in the garden though.  SOMEthing is still lurking about, despite my ugly fence attempt.  This little bit of tomato evidence was on the retaining wall this morning.  They could at least clean up after themselves.  Pigs.

In other news, it’s festival time here in the Fort and we’ve made the trek to have the annual Funnel Cake.  YUM!  I think funnel cakes should be the next big breakfast fad.

Junk Food Alley

Other than that, I spend my evenings in analysis paralysis.  I’ve been trying to plan a new quilt project, but instead, I just spend my time surfing all the fab quilts on the internet.  There are SO many quilts I want to make — (like this and this and this and this and….oh forget it, just everything on my quilt board on pinterest!) — where to start — it’s just so confusing!  In the meantime, I have a new basket for my bike, so I’m hoping to entertain myself this weekend by making a new liner.  Cause you know … if it can be lined, it must be lined!

Have a good weekend!
XOXO,
Anna

  1. I LOoooooove funnel cakes. They are my favorite fair food. Can’t wait to see your next quilt….and I love zinnias. Did you plant them from seed. I don’t have the patience to wait for them to come up from seed. I want instant gratification.

  2. Garden looking great – full and happy :). My little garden is coming along to. I’ve seen a few happy little green peppers, tomatoes and green beans. My cucumbers are sprouting lots of blossoms – that’s a good sign. Oh your bike basket lined would be dang adorable – can’t wait to see it. Oh ya funnel cakes – bring them on sister lol
    Hugs from the Farmhouse

  3. If we all have funnel cake for breakfast, one of these days we will not make it to lunchtime …

You have been doing some serious watering there! Looking good!

  4. We’ve been the opposite way around , all rain and no sun until today that it is. The annual airshow and it’s blistering hot , left me totally shattered. Don’t think I’ve ever seen a funnel cake, will have to Google it.. happy weekend to you too x

  5. Gosh, I know what you mean about time whizzing by. Half of my summer vacation is gone and I’m getting and upset tummy anticipating the return to work (was not a nice end to the school year). Sigh. I guess I’d better make the most of the remaining weeks.
Your garden looks wonderful! That little bit of rain was really needed, eh?
Have fun at the fair. There’s one in my city right now – I don’t need to go because I live just close enough to hear ALL the noise.

  6. I love, love, love funnel cakes but it’s been a long time since I’ve had one. Please have one for me.

Your garden looks very inviting. Those dang critters just don’t understand they weren’t invited. LOL

I started following you on Pinterest and I, too, want to make every quilt you have pinned. :-)

  7. i vote mississippi wheel!
    no funnel cakes here.
my kids don’t know that part of 3RiversFest exist! parade, chalk walk, and we are out of there!

  8. Can you show us how you make your basket liner? I thrifted an old Schwinn at Goodwill just before Christmas, and since there is a new knitting shop within riding distance of my house, I put a basket on her. I bought some Denise Schmidt fabric in happening seventies colors that go with my bike, but I’m afraid to cut into it—I’m not sure how to measure the basket, etc. (My bike was made in Chicago in May, 1976. It is copper.) I also thought it would be cool if I could put straps on the liner somehow so that when I get to the knitting shop, I could carry it in and it could double as a bag.

  9. Your zinnias are so pretty. Did you start them from seed? Why don’t you sew along with some of us bloggers and make Spools by Camille Roskelley of Thimble Blossoms. Quite a few bloggers are jumping on the bandwagon. Check my links for Thelma at Cupcakes and Daisies and Nicole at Sisters Choice Quilts. It’s a darling quilt.

  10. Your garden is growing very well!!!
I had to Google funnel cakes…sounds like something I would eat too! Gosh, you do have lots of inspiration on your Pinterest page!!!!

  11. I believed it was going to be some uninteresting outdated report, but it really paid out regarding time. I’ll report one of the links to the site on my blog. I am sure my website website visitors will quickly realize that invaluable.

  12. The zinnias are gorgeous – I vote for making all four quilts right away – looking forward to seeing the bike-basket liner – and I hope you enjoy the Funnel cake. :)

I admit it, I’m weird because I never understood the appeal there. I don’t care much for funnel cake – or the Navajo Fry Bread that are so popular here in Arizona.

  13. Oh the choices! One quilt is more gorgeous than the next. I’m sure you’ll find something lovely. Glad you got a bit of rain as your veg and flowers really needed it and are now looking so much happier.

  14. your garden is looking gorgeous, love the zinnias. I am just the same as you, I spent so much time looking at quilts, and never choose what’s next.
off to google funnel cakes too!

  15. Beautiful, my flower gardens perked up after the rain we had.
Oh my goodness, I just got a new basket for my bike and was thinking of putting a lining in it. I had mice get in my saddle bags and front carrier, which after mice living in for almost 2 years you can imagine how they looked and smelled inside, so I got new saddle bags and a basket and thought…Hmmm I could line it. I just haven’t got around to it yet, can’t wait to see yours.

  16. oh my … oh my goodness … i am lurving your garden!!!

thank you for giving me hope that NEXT YEAR our walls will look like yours … maybe i will remember to plant zinnias all the way around cuz they ARE happy, aren’t they?

  17. Your garden looks gorgeous! I wish mine did. We now have some sunshine in the UK (hooray! About time too!) so hopefully the things I’ve grown from seed will get a bit of a move on. :D x

  18. Glad you got the rain, too. When we were kids, my brother and I loved those flat cinnamon/sugar crispy things at the fair. We called them “flying saucers” but I don’t think that’s what they’re known by. Anyhoo, have fun picking out a new quilt project and a great week.

    xo Amy

  19. I know what you mean about time flying. Your garden looks great. The rain we’ve had has turned mine into a rampant jungle. I have GOT to get out there and clean it out, but – you guessed it – it’s too hot out there! LOL

  20. Your garden is looking good. We’re having blt’s tonight with hunka’s tomatoes. They are doing great. But water……..I do not even want to see that bill. Everything else is struggling to survive. Including ME!!!!
Try and keep cool over there. Send us some rain please. Boo told me he got rain for a couple days.

  21. Lovely gardens you have! I don’t think it’s a pig that’s eating your tomatoes! ;o) Do you have any chickens? They love tomatoes, ask me how I know?! ;o) Deer? Oh well, I’m amazed you have red tomatoes! Ours are still green! Thanks for sharing! Cheers!

  22. Wow, you garden looks great! And your flowers are beautiful. I’m sorry you have little critters eating your tomatoes, but seeing those little leftover bits made me laugh. :) Cute basket on your bike too! :)

  23. Wow, Anna, lots of gorgeous quilts on your board. How will you ever choose? Your garden is looking beautiful! Sorry to hear about the looting :/

  24. What beautiful zinnias. I love zinnias but I don’t have any this year. Like you, I sometimes get caught up in the Pinterest sewing projects and don’t actually DO any. But I will!

  25. OH MY GOSH i typed something that was witty, and LONG. and now it’s gone. and since you can’t see it, let’s also claim it was appropriate. if it shows up later, you’ll know it wasn’t, but OH WELL.
love your garden. esp. the zinnias. mine looks like garbage. i think you should find someone to give you heather ross banana bike fab. for the liner. kk… i’m off.
    ttfn.
    waves madly

  26. Love the zinnias – so pretty. Wow, no wonder you can’t decide on which project to start next! They’re all so gorgeous. I’ve just started at pinterest and my quilt section is now going quite well – thank you!!

  27. linda townsend

Is your garden gated? I am surprised that you don’t have deer devouring every zinnia and plant.

  28. lol @ ‘if it can be lined it will be lined’! i looked at your pinterest quilts…dang, you’re gonna be busy until the day you die! ;p

    Just pick one! ;p

  29. Funnel cake is the ultimate pennsylvania dutch food. Well, one of them. I have not had good funnel cake since moving to utah, however making it is not rocket science. Basically it is a sweet pancake batter. I have recipes, I just need to work on my consistency. I promised I would make it at our family reunion next month. Shelbie and I did one experiment and it worked out for a small number of people but we need to do it on a greater scale. Your yard is beautiful, the flowers are wonderful. So lush. I am super jealous.
