Absent

Dear Little Blog O’ Mine,

I’m so sorry that you’ve been neglected all week.  It’s sad, but I’ve been SO busy with BelovedAunt here — and we’ve had a great time playing all week.  There’ve been cards — Hand and Foot and a new speedy game that Beloved Aunt brought with her — Wackee Six.

Tons of baking — cookies, a pie,

rolls, and bread.

And lots of quilting.  Or what should have been lots of quilting — the cards and food sort of got in the way.  We’re working on a swap quilt — we make three of each fussy little star block (those points are a pain in the sewing box!) and then share with each other.  The colors looks awful in this picture — they really aren’t so odd.  And there’s a humility block in there too.

Oooh, and we picked up this cool new tool at the NQA show last week.  It’s a small cutting table that swivels.  It makes squaring up those little blocks a breeze — we love it!

NQA

So, little blog…sorry for the neglect of you and GoogleReader.  I’ll try to be better this next week!

XOXO,
Anna

Ooops!  I forgot to mention that I guest-posted over on Stash Manicure last week — there are lots of fun posts over there, so pop over and have a look if you have time!

  1. No apologies needed! It looks like you have been having some fabulous family time and you know family comes first. Never heard of the games that you Aunt brought along, although I am sure they are fun!! Loving all the stars. They will be beautiful quilts.

  2. wow, that rotating table looks amazing. I’ve got a cutting mat that swivels, but I’m sure a table is much handier. So glad you had a lovely and busy time with your Aunt. Have a lovely Sunday!

  3. Oh how we’ve missed you – but you HAD to spend time with your favorite aunt and we all knew it! That rotating table is cool! After cutting out a bunch of triangles on a flat mat on the floor and having an aching butt and back for days makes me appreciate nifty quilting gadgets!

  4. I love cutting mats that swivel. Such a simple idea that makes you mad you didn’t think of it and market it first.

  5. Sounds like your having a good time with you aunt. Love the blocks!! They look tiny.
the pie crust looks delish and I’m sure whatever went inside that crust was awesome too.
Enjoy your time with your aunt.

  6. seems like you had a great time with your beloved=aunt… worries…but my curiosity is getting the better of me…what kind of pie did you bake & can you tell us about the breads… please!!! linda=noblog

  7. I am sure she (or he?) will unerstand perfectly ;-)

Sounds like you had a wonderful week. How great to craft, chat, bake and play with a person you love. That’s what life’s about, don’t you think?

  8. What a fun time you’ve been having, I’d rather be doing that than on the computer. I’ve spent a whole weekend playing with bread but I think I’d love to have done it at your place with beloved Aunt.

  9. Glad you are having fun with your family Anna. Love your stars, they look so pretty on the wall! Well I’m off to make a graham cracker crust for a summer pie, thanks for the inspiration!

  10. Glad you’re having so much fun! LOVE the stars! That rotating table is awesome…I have a mat that turns but that would be so much better. ENJOY!

  11. Sounds like a good week, Anna. My mom has loved cards all her life. The two of us played “Spite and Malice” for years, but now she can’t play anymore. There for a while I’d sit and play to make her happy, all the while thinking of all I had to do. Now I miss those games…..:)

Hope your work week is a good one.

    Love,
    Amy

  12. The best kinds of time! We always play cards or our new obsession fighting for family dominance is Mexican Train Dominos. I have one of those rotating tables, hmm, should get it out again. Glad you had a great week!

  13. I’m just envious, as I only ever had one aunt, whom I hardly ever saw (she lived in Ireland). Malcolm has lots of aunts, uncles and too many cousins to count!! I like your star blocks. I’m about to do some serious hand quilting – the first for some time!

  14. your star blocks are wonderful.
except you’re swapping with the wrong friends, but whatever.
can’t wait to see what you do with them.
love the swivel table. may have to get me one of those. a girl needs gadgets, you know…

  15. It sounds like things are going just as they should at your house. I like the swivel table. How come we didn’t think of that!

  16. Hey you … it’s YOUR blog which means you get to post when you want to, and when you have time. It’s good to read that you’re having a lovely family and creative time. Take care :) x

  17. Looks like a wonderful visit with your aunt. I love new toys and that cutting board is sure nifty. Okay, I’m going to ask, what’s a humility block?

  18. What fun. I think it is wonderful you’re having a great time with her. It is the best excuse ever not to blog. But you did. So that is great.

  19. Isn’t it nice that there is no bondage to blogging. I’m just glad to see what you’ve been doing whenever you get around to posting. Looks like a wonderful time has been had by you and your aunt, and that’s a lot more important than blogging.

  20. What great things…I’ve been neglecting my reader…it’s been fun today to get out and see all the inspiration. Must find that game…been looking for some new games!

  21. That sounds like a great week!

It’s Summertime… and the living is easy! So no apologies. Enjoy your days!

Though taking pictures is a little harder, Wintertime is a better time to have a blog, write posts and read other people’s blogs.

  22. These seem like really good reasons for neglecting your blog for a while:) Visistsfrom Beloved Aunts are much more important, I’m glad you had such fun together.
