Friday Five

Jeepers.  I don’t seem to be finding the time to blog!  It’s not that I’m super busy or anything — must be the lazy days of summer.  Anyway, here’s my Five for Friday (with a few gratuitous flower shots because you always have to have a picture and we have pretty blooming flowers now!):

1.  My exchange fabric for the Trip Around the World arrived this week and it’s perfect!  I love the sweet little print that came all the way from Australia and I’m excited to use it in my piecing.  She even included a handmade card with a little log cabin block.  So Cute!

2.  If you’re a knitter, you might enjoy these funny stock photos of knitters, found via Bekah.

3.  The Yarn Harlot had a really funny post this week about a lost sock.  I almost spit out my diet pepsi when I read the line “Are you *&^!ing kidding me?”  Go have a good read to put it into context.  And in solidarity for lost handknit socks everywhere, here’s my sock on the kitchen floor.

4.  I’ve been having a terrible time commenting on blogs that have that #$@%^$ word verification stuff on them.  Donna writes about this quite a bit and she has some good suggestions for fixing the problem.  If you have word verification and I usually comment on your blog but I haven’t been lately, it’s because I tried two or three times and then gave up.  Those things drive me crazy!

5. I was driving through Indianapolis the other day and snuck in a visit to one of my favorite yarn shops.  They’re having a 30% off everything in the store for the month of July (a fun surprise!) so I had to partake.  I thought these yarns would make these cute baby booties when I need fun little gifts.

Have a great weekend!

  1. Your fabric is a wonderful compliment to the colours that you are already using in your quilt isn’t it! I haven’t had any problems with word verification, and I keep mine on because of spam issues. If you find that the words or numbers disappear and that the words photo sphere come up with a picture behind, just type in photo sphere, and it works as normal. I don’t know if that is the problem that you have been having, but just thought I would mention it in case. Hope that helps! xx

  2. I hope the sock is reunited x
I don’t have verification, I really really don’t like it. blogger meanwhile is always frustrating me by always eating up my first comment. I have learnt to copy the text before I click publish as it always disappears never to be seen again…………..

  3. Hi Anna! So great to see you again… And what a great way to start the weekend. I can see why you love that sweet little fabric. It’s perfect for your quilt. And your flowers are beautiful. I also have fits with those word verification blogs. Why??? Your new yarn is fantastic. I can hardly wait to see what you create with it. Now I’m going back to see what had you almost spitting out your diet Pepsi :o) Have a wonderful week!!! Keep on tripping!

  4. Your quilt looks lovelier every time you post! That swap fabric is going to fit in perfectly.

I had so many problems on my blog when I had word verification that I got rid of it – at least I think I did. Might have to check!

I hope you have a great weekend and look forward to seeing that gorgeous yarn knit up into some cute little booties :)

    xx

  5. Oh those little flowers are so sweet. I do miss buts of color in my yard. Brown is so overrated here.

  6. reminder to self – do NOT take a sip of coffee whilst reading Thimbleanna’s blog – it is too doggone hard to get the spitspots off the monitor’s screen when i snort it out of my nose whilst choking on what DID make it through to the back of my throat…

p.s. – is there a better phrase for discovering the loss of one of a pair of ANYTHING that took hours and hours, other than “Are you *&^!ing kidding me?” ?!?

  7. I hate those word verification things too. I did think the number ones would be better but I’ve noticed that, as soon as I click the space to put the number, said number changes. What’s that about? Or, in your borrowed words “Are you *&^!ing kidding me?” LOL

  8. That exchange fabric will really suit your Trip quilt, and doesn’t it make it fun to use something sent from the other side of the world. Word Verification is so annoying. I do a lot of commenting using my phone and the letters are so hard to read. I try twice but if it doesn’t work I figure I really must be a robot and don’t leave a comment. I love that sock story! I really hope it gets reunited with it’s owner.

  9. Your zinnias are beautiful. I picked one chery tomato today. One! it’s been record hot here and I am ready for fall.

  10. You wear socks in the summer? Yeeps!

Love the flower pics and the quilty pics too. Can’t wait for my zinnias to bloom!

  11. Well your TAW is looking wonderful, I’m finding it hard to chose the next rows fabric for mine. I’d love to get my yarn out but I’m afraid my hands won’t be able to take it at the moment. Darn and it’s knitting weather too.

  12. what fun knitting photos! they are too funny!!
loved your flower photos, are they all in your yard? lovely
    Your TATW looks good.
aauuugghh, those word verifications are such a drag, but then so is spam :(
i wonder if you went to my friends knitting shop. She is in Zionsville.

  13. I think your Trip Around the World is getting better and better. And what luck that the swap fabric works so perfectly.

  14. Hello, it’s me! I read you about those word verification. All it does is prove that I’m a robot! And since bloggers seem to not like robots, my comments do not get posted!! :P So you’ve been busy! Love that quilt! Enjoy your summer! It’s been lovely! Cheers!

  15. Don’t even know if I have word verification…. But I do know that I can never read them. the numbers aren’t so bad ( fewer options). It is dementing.

  16. well your trippity trip trip is turning out quite nicely and that yellow matches very well!
okay that missing sock story was wonderful. the mini zins are doing fantastic. i can’t remember if you said, did you plant them from seed? those yarns are perfect for booties for my unborn grandchildren hope chest. i haven’t worked on anything for it for quite some time…. perhaps if i start then the grandbabies will come… wasn’t there a movie about that? if you knit it/sew it/quilt it they will come? c’mon grandbabies!
okay, well back to my job… saving the world.
    :waves madly

  17. Love the sock story! I get seriously fed up with some of the word verification stuff – sometimes once you finally decipher the word or number, your comment then disappears as it is awaiting comment moderation – if you have that on your blog I don’t think you need word verification too!

  18. Oooh, that yarn looks yummy!
Thanks for linking to me too! I was like “oh hey that’s my name!” and then I realised it was me! Made me smile :-)

  19. Oh thank you!! I thought it was just me on word verification lately. On most blogs with it I just getthat stupid photo sphere ad and then it never goes through. I sometimes write foul comments cause I get so mad…with my luck one of those will go through and I really will end up on someones spam list!!

love the pink shirt and the socks…talented lady!
