Having a Divine Time

Whew!  Our boring July has become very busy.  We have several visitors here in ThimbleannaLand.  MeMum has a longtime friend visiting from Florida, MyDadLovesMeBestSister has her in-laws from Germany, and we have TheFirstChild and SweetiePie for a week.  We’ve had lots of fun getting together and I’ve had a great time practicing my long-forgotten German and watching the kids laugh until they cry.

Everyone arrived within 2 days of each other so I made some of our favorite poppyseed bread, wrapped it up in parchment paper, tied it with my new favorite twine and took everyone a little present.

Poppyseed Bread

A few years ago I couldn’t find baker’s twine anywhere.  Now I’ve found this Divine Twine and I love it.  There are so many ways to use this twine.  I love it for tying packages of any kind.  And when I get some time, I want to make this cute little bunting.

Divine Twine

Since I love this twine so much, I’ve added it to the Thimbleanna Store.  On my Fun Stuff page.  The page where I put special things that really make me happy and inspire me to make pretty projects and gifts.

Divine Twine

As is traditional for my favorites, when I add them to the store, I offer them at 20% off.  And if you run over there and buy some, I’ll give you my extra special Poppyseed Bread recipe that everyone loves.

Just kidding – you already have my poppyseed bread recipe.  Now, I’m off to try and figure out how I’m going to finish my current UFO — I’ve run out of that little bee fabric.  Hope you’re having a good weekend!

XOXO,
Anna

  4. Enjoy your time with extended family! I am sure your poppyseed bread was well received – the twine makes the perfect finishing touch. Watch out Martha!

  5. twine? so those are twines.. sorry, i m indeed “ignorant” of these cos i don’t do much craft and sewing but i like to admire those who are good in them…
    have a nice week ahead..

  6. I love recipes that make at least two loaves from one mixing so i’ll have one to share….Will have to try this bread….and B’s cherry pies…and her rolls….I guess I’d better get baking and quit procrastinating!

  7. I can relate to “trying to speak German”, I can understand it really well, but speaking it is something else again…odd, huh?

  8. That divine twine is very pretty. You have such an eye for gorgeous details. Your relatives must have loved receiving the poppyseed bread wrapped up so lovingly.

  9. I love the twine – it certainly is divine!! The bunting is cute – I will have to look in my local craft store for a similar punch. I learned German at school – but it was based on reading and writing, rather than speaking – my accent is terrible!

  10. My Daphne just learned to say gutentag at kinder!! Love, love, love the twine. You do indeed have an eye for the gorgeous details!

  11. The twine is lovely. Enjoy your family. Sounds like you already have. Laughter through tears is one of my favorite emotions. What movie was that?

  12. I’ll check my stash for the bee fabric. My sewing group is the Busy Bees so we tend to collect bee fabric. I’ll also email them all a picture of it and see if they have any. How much do you need?

  13. Ah, the uses for this wonderful twine! Wrapping, scrapbooking, cardmaking… ahh, the possibilities! :) Thanks for sharing! :) Glad the family visits have been good! :))

  14. The twine looks so cute and what a perfect way to wrap a pressie. I have only seen the red colorway but I will have to get organised and order some of the beautiful green and blue!

  15. did i read correctly above? miss jean belongs to a group that collects bee fabric???
:make a note to befriend miss jean
LOVE DIVINE TWINE!! And now i know where to get it!!
my birthday is in january. my computer bunting should be in either a red/pink colorway… or you could go with lime green and something more festive.
hope you’re having fun with all that family.
just think, it could be WAY worse! you could be having to hang out with MY extended family instead of yours. but then, of course, you would need meds, and then, undoubtedly you would not be making poppyseed bread.. you’d be making nightshade muffins with arsenic icing.

  16. I love visits from family and especially the laughing part!
I also love the twine and I use it alot in my baking and crafting too. It looks lovely around your poppy seed bread…which by the way, I must try soon!

  17. Very pretty twine! I love making the package as fun as the gift. Your poppy seed bread sounds so yummy. Have a lovely rest of the week.

  18. Loved your twine- you do everything with such lovely flare Ms. Anna- I bet the poppyseed cake was a big hit.
enjoy all the fun times with family and friends- the summer is passing all too quickly.
    Warmest regards,
    Anna

  19. HI Anna, glad you are enjoying your family and having a happy summer! I must get back into my blog reading….where does all the time go!?!?

  20. Hi Anna, thank you for coming by my blog. I did just open the comments today. I am trying to get back to some semblance of blogging but I am still in a bit of a summer mode. I am finishing off some papers this weekend and then I get a bit of a break from school for four weeks – but not work unfortunately, that seems to just always be there :) Trying to get back to crochet as well, it has been sadly neglected.
