Dogs and Balloons

Ohmygosh you guys.  I’m sure this isn’t news to anyone, but it’s November.  Already.  I’ve been cruising along thinking that I won’t be making much for Christmas this year, and then last night I remembered a gift that I really want to make.  I had a mild panic attack when I realized that there are only 50 days to make a project that’s going to take some calculating and work.  Ouch!

Anyway, while I slowly breathe in and breathe out to calm myself … I had some questions about the picture I posted of Winston the other day, so I thought I’d try and answer them.  Our little picture taking adventure all started when MyDadLovesMeBestSister asked me if I’d take some senior pictures of CuteNiece2.  We’d all been thinking about what we wanted to do, and at the last minute, I suggested that we grab the dog and some goggles that I gave CrazyBIL last year for Christmas and see what happened.  We ended up with this fun picture of a girl, her car and her dog.

Thimbleanna: Senior Pics

I love that picture!  (Oh, and hey — while we’re on her pictures — CuteNiece2 went to all the work to become a certified Yoga instructor last year.  Hey all you yogis out there –can you do this pose???  My arms hurt just looking at it!)

Thimbleanna: Yoga

Anyway, back to the dog pictures.  The next week Winston came to visit and we thought we’d try to get some more fun goggle pictures.  (For those of you having trouble keeping up (ha!), Teddy is 4 years old and belongs to MyDadLovesMeBestSister and Winston is 1 year old and belongs to TheFirstChild and SweetiePie.  They’re both F1 Goldendoodles.)  So, we put the dogs where all dogs love to be, near a fire hydrant.  With balloons and goggles.  (Teddy on the left, Winston on the right.)

Thimbleanna: Teddy

Winston did NOT want to wear those goggles.  Like the senior photo, we tried the dogs in the car.  First with both dogs in the front seat.  That definitely wasn’t working.  However, we did get proof that Winston would wear the googles over his eyes for a minute or two.  Teddy on the left, Winston on the right.

Thimbleanna: Dogs

This was my favorite dog photo that afternoon.  Both dogs happy.  Teddy driving his good buddy around for the day.  (And by the way, it wasn’t totally ridiculous to get balloons for the dogs — they were both celebrating their birthdays that week!)

Thimbleanna: Dogs

Hopefully, dogs in goggles with balloons brightened your day a little.
Btw, how are you Auntlets (that’s what I’m going to call you if you’re participating in the Aunts’ Quiltalong!) coming with your quilts?  Have you made a good start?  I’m almost done with my assignment this month.  Plus, I made a list of those of you participating over there in my sidebar.  I KNOW I’ve left some of you out.  I know for sure that I’ve forgotten one of you — I can see your e-mail but I can’t find it and I can’t remember your name.  I’m SO sorry.  PLEASE e-mail me and remind me and I’ll add you to the list.

XOXO,
Anna

  1. Oh my goodness – these are the best dog photos!! Love those convertible cars too –
Wow – my whole body hurts whenI see that pose – that is AMAZING
Your photos were such a great start to my day
    xx

  2. Thanks for a smile this morning!! Love the doggie photos. They look like something you’d find on a Hallmark birthday card!

BTW that yoga pose looks like one only someone under 20 could do! Good for her tho!

  3. Oh my gosh! What amazing photos! A great start to my day – thank you. I absolutely LOVE the photo of your niece and doggie in the car. Award winning. Is there anything you don’t do well? Those doggies are so adorable I imagine they get hugs all day long. And now I can’t wait to hear/see what you have come up with for Christmas. Thanks again for my early morning inspiration!

  4. LOL at the dogs – what great photos were taken. I used to take a yoga stretch class – needless to say I was never going to be able to do a poise like that so never took power yoga – I was amazed at some easy poises I could do – but my arms aren’t strong for anything like that!
Get busy on the Christmas stuff – time is running out – if I am going to make anything for xmas I better start now for next year!!

  5. Those photos are hilarious and the dogs are about as cute as they get!
And that pose! One of my instructors often tries to nudge us to “just try”. I usually maintain some simple stretch while observing everyone else. It’s entertaining, at least!
Re: Christmas ~ eyes shut, fingers in ears, *lalala*…….

  6. What fun pictures but I’m still puzzled how you were able to put those goggles on the dogs. I think ours (a chow) would have eaten you alive if you’d tried!

  7. The dog photos are amazing! I wonder if my pup would sit so nicely with goggles…….

I’m off to write my first blog post in a year, where do I even start?!

    xo

  8. I hope you are framing all those because they are the CUTEST!! And I love your niece’s car. It’s my dream “fun” car but I can’t talk my husband into it. I try and try and it doesn’t work. I soooooo want one!!!

  9. Those photos could easily be Birthday cards! I thought one dog was very cute but then there were two!! Teddy and Winston are both adorable! The ballooons were such a fun prop!!

  10. So funny. I think you should print them up for stationary notes. They are too cute and I don’t even have a dog (nor have i ever). The Niece is pretty cute too :)

You are going to be a busy woman the next two months!

  11. As a “mom” of a goldendoodle, I am extremely partial to the adorability of these photos! :) I would love to replicate, however, I don’t have a car that has a top that opens, we don’t have any goggles… Although I may need to get some, or some balloons, anyway, just for a fun photo! :) Big hugs, Thimbleanna!

  12. As you know, I’m a cat person (though I like dogs too) but those dogs are gorgeous. Even without their accoutrements.

Your autumn colours look very pretty too. Lots of leaves for you to collect… .

  13. Such wonderful pictures…..love them all……the dogs in their goggles are just adorable, and the balloons are a brilliant touch of celebration! Your niece is beautiful……I love the picture of her driving the car with her goggled companion!

  15. I was going to comment on your doggies pics, but then I read the message for the Auntlets!! Eeeeeeek!!! Have I missed a post?? Have we started??? Oho! I’m off to find the missing post!! Aaaaaaargh!!!

  16. Ah, Meredithe’s post above makes me sigh in relief…I am not the only one behind already then…are we in for a wet noodle thrashing? Not sure anyone but my Mom will recognize me by Krista though so I may be safe ;) I have been machine quilting two quilts and have not started the Auntie project but I am still planning to…really…I have a pile of fabric sorted-ha! I agree with the masses above, you should market a notecard line…Hallmark, indeed!

  17. What CAN’T you do Miss Thimble? These are awesome pics! I pinned one right off the bat. You’re such a smartie and a cutie. Happy Birthdays to the doggies.

  18. love the photoshoot with the dogs! however, that yoga pose? the strength that requires would make a Marine feel inferior! ;p

    xo, ina

  19. Such cheery photos!!!! I think the happy dogs in the dark blue car my favorite! I was so glad not to see my name in the sidebar!!!????????????

  20. I love love love this adventure! What fun… these photos need to be but out there in contests so they can win the awards they deserve.

  21. Really great pictures. I love the DOF on the yoga picture, and I’m impressed she’s certified. In high school? I wouldn’t have had the focus for anything like that!
