Christmas Stuff

Since I can’t think of a good way to relate the items that I’m going to show you, I’ll just list them:

  • In our Christmas house, we have a running argument about the lights. The boys all love the little Christmas lights and I want the big, old-fashioned kind that I grew up with. You’d think, since I’m the one who has to spend hours putting the lights on the tree, that I’d get to choose. Kitchen TreeBut, I can’t stand all the whining, so I give in. This year, I found an old string of 15 of the big lights, so I decided to put up a little tree in the kitchen just for me. I picked up a few of those Martha Stewart kitchen utensils on sale at K-Mart, some little candy canes, and called it a tree.
  • See those goodies under the tree? I returned home from my trip tonight to find a little surprise package from Sharon! She’s such a sweetie — it was totally unexpected. There’s a tin of tea, a yummy Mary Englebreit soap, a cute Christmas notepad, some Christmas kleenex, and an adorable little wool stocking with a gingerbread man on it (who’s very hard to see with the lighting!) Thank you SO much Sharon — I love it all! And, well, I really hate to tell you this, but Sharon’s having a little HUGE give-away. Run over there and leave a comment. And in your comment, tell her to pick me LOL!
  • Before I went on my trip, I managed to make and give a gift to a co-worker. I made her the Amy Butler lounge pants out of the chocolate fabric that I love and I added a little of the fabric to a ready-made t-shirt. Amy must be tall, because the pants are too long for my average-height friend. They’ll be adjusted after Christmas.
  • Chocolate Pants
  • While in NJ, I dragged a co-worker in to NYC on Wednesday evening for a few hours ’cause after my previous attempt, I still wanted to see the big tree. I also convinced my friend to go with me to check out the Macy’s Santa. My VERY favorite Christmas movie is Miracle on 34th Street, so I HAD to see the Macy’s Santa. I must not be the only person who wants to peek at Santa ’cause they have a separate line and viewing window just for peeking people. Is this not the coolest looking Santa ever? I wanted to climb right up in his lap and tell him my wishes for Christmas! I think my friend thought I was nuts.
  • Macy's Santa
  • Depending on where you are, only 3 days left. Are you ready???

XOXO,
Anna

  1. oh he’s a great Santa, just as he should be. Love you little tree and the gifts from Sharon…I’m just hopping over to her blog and NO! I am not ready but are we ever??

  2. What a great santa! Is that a real beard and bushy eyebrows? We’re still not ready over here…doing a lot of late night blog reading, instead of thinking about one last present to make. And the anatomically correct gingerbread party people (on your last post) on that little balcony just cracked me up. Hilarious!

  3. A seperate viewing window and LINE? Holy smokes.

I use both c7’s and mini lights on our live tree. Whose says you can’t just do both on one tree? :-) (I like the glow of the big ones, but there isn’t enough light for me without the little ones too.)

  4. What wonderful goodies you received from Sharon! Very sweet! Love, love, love the jammies you made!! They are so cute!
I’m glad you have a little tree just for YOU – I love the big lights, too, but I can’t find the ones I had anymore – I think my “Scrooge” got rid of them!! LOL! He wants LED lights for the tree now!! What happened to the old-fashioned romance of Christmas? Ah well………
That Santa is incredible – he looks like a Victorian Christmas card! Thanks for sharing, Anna! Ho Ho Ho, Merry Christmas!!!!!!!

  5. I love your sweet little kitchen Christmas tree with the old fashioned lights. That was an awesome thing to do for yourself. And what lovely surprise treasures too :)

  6. Not only am I not ready I’m NOT READY. I love your tree. I remember those lights from when I was a kid. But the ones we had would get so hot I would burn my fingers on them every year. I would love a vintage Christmas tree. My parents left one box behind when we moved from Pennsylvania to Utah when I was 17. It was the box of Christmas decorations. Sad huh. We had great glass ornaments. Merry Christmas Anna!!!

  7. What a darling little tree, and oh what lovely goodies from Miss Sharon, and no I won’t tell her to pick you, it’s time to pick me….lol…. I’m glad you mentioned the length on the lounge pants, I have the opposite problem, none of the patterns are ever long enough. I end up adding a good 6 – 8 inches. Will have to check out the pattern after Christmas. Hope you enjoy your Christmas.

  8. What a cute kitchen tree you have there. I like the big giant lights you used. Tell those boys to stop whining!! LOL!! Cute lounge pants and shirt you did there.

  9. Well if he took that beard off I just might sit on lap too! The Pj’s are too cute! I like both lites, oh.. maybe that’s why I don’t decorate?
Merry Christmas to you and yours!!

  10. How nice to have your own tree! I think mine would be covered in chocolate decorations where no cat could reach! We were talking about Miracle …. just yesterday and I promised my daughter we’d get hold of a copy of it for her to watch. I’m off to do the food shopping, my least favourite bit about Christmas!

  11. I love all your Christmas “stuff!” It looks like you’re ready to me. The kitchen tree is adorable and the idea of the utensils as ornaments is so fun. What a wonderful gift from Sharon! The gift of the lounge pants set is so thoughtful–I know what you mean about the length as I just about had to cut off half the legs to fit my short stature.

  12. I wish you and your family a wonderful Christmas filled with love and joy and peace. Just think… next year we’re both going to be marrying off a child. We’ll have to chat, chat, chat about all that in the new year.
    Christmas hugs,
    Joni

  13. I’m a white mini light girl. But I do love those big old color ones also. Cute on your little tree with special goodies underneath it.

That Santa is WONDERFUL. And those lounge pants and t-shirt are a wonderful gift. I think you need to share your ideas early on so that us groupies can do what you do and have the time to do it in, LOL.

    Happy Holidays Sweetie – Karen

  14. That all looks lovely and Christmassy. We’re almost organised here. I’m going to be in town at 8.55 am tomorrow and home again by 11 am. Then a bit of housecleaning, a bit of Christmas cake icing and that will be that.

    Have a splendid Christmas!

  15. I would like to thank you for your help with my blog earlier. I would also like to wish you a very Merry Christmas and a healthy and happy New Year.

  16. I LOVE your little tree! It looks wonderful with those big lights! And a short string?! We have the strings with the C7 bulbs but they’re all LONG and hang outside. Maybe I’ll have to pay attention next year to whether the stores are selling any short strings. In years past, I’ve usually gone with small white lights, but I noticed that this year, I was thinking about the colored lights again. And gosh darn it! Doesn’t THAT just make it hard to try to think ahead to NEXT YEAR when you aren’t even certain what you would have had THIS year, nevermind trying to predict what you might want NEXT year?! ROFLOL!
