TheFirstChild's Wedding Quilt

Blogged about HERE.

Pattern:

  • SweetiePie and I drew up this quilt on our own. The monogram was done using microsoft word and a projector to project the image onto a wall for enlarging. The monogram is turned-under hand-sewn applique.
  • Finished March 2010.

Materials:

  • Lots of mixed tan fabrics
  • Quilt Batting
  • Quilt Backing

Additional Info:

  • SweetiePie loves monograms, so we decided to make a quilt that has their new married monogram in the middle of it.
  • The center of this quilt was made with 5″ squares of various tan prints.  There are 16 rows of 12 blocks.  The narrow taupe border is 1 1/2″ wide.  This creates a top that should cover the top of a queen sized bed.  The monogram letters were put on the top before the borders were added.
  • The strips in the outside border are each 2 1/2″ wide and were originally cut to be 18″ long to cover the drop on TheFirstChild’s top mattress.  Then, the scallops were cut to span the width of 6 strips.  The top and bottom borders each neededabout 38 strips and the side borders each needed about 46 strips.  The corners are mitered.
  • The finished quilt size is roughly 97″ x 117″.
  • All the machine quilting is done by me — fairly simple with a bit of stipple quilting around the monogram and the rest is all straight line quilting.
