U-Haul Over-Haul

Back to the weekend (hey, you have to forgive me…I’m doing my monthly stint in NJ, so there’s no crafting going on here — I’m working hard to catch up with all of you though!)… after I left Clementine’s, I caught up with TheManoftheHouse and TheSecondChild at exit 90 on I-65.  (How on earth did we do that before cell phones???)  They were pulling a trailer of TheSecondChild’s junk and this was my view riding down the freeway.

Uhaul

Now, come on.  I’ve just been at Cami’s for 3 hours surrounded by fabric beauty and inspiration.  That U-Haul trailer is uhhh-gly.  The orange is ok, but, yuck.  So, what’s a girl to do but dream a little?  How ’bout some flowers?

Uhaul

Are you with me???  Better, no???  How ’bout these cute chocolate bunnies (can you see them?) in a brocade-like setting???

Uhaul

Fabric lovers of the world unite!  It’s one way we can beautify our environment — a feast for weary traveler’s (that’s traveller’s for those of you in the UK LOL!) eyes.  Wait!  How ’bout some cupcakes???*

Uhaul

And speaking of cupcakes, there’s a new cupcake on the blogger block!  The fabulous FABULOUS noblog Brigette has finally joined us and started up a blog.  (A few of you have already found her via her comments.)  Please join me in welcoming — Oh, gag me– we hear that line all the time when they’re making organizational announcements at work!

What I really mean to say is run over to Brigette’s and say HI!  You won’t be sorry — she’s one very cool and FUNNY chick.  I mean, really.  Her blog name is My Mother-in-Law is a Troll.  The title alone should send you scampering over there.  She’s a quilter, an awesome cook,  and she’s lucky enough to live in sunny California amid bounteous (is that a word? it’s too close to beauteous) farms and she’s currently practicing extreme canning.  I think she needs a little cheering up tonight, so go leave her a comment!

Oh, and one last thing — Penny is having a cute giveaway, so go check that out too!

XOXO,
Anna

*No fabrics (or cupcakes) were harmed in the over-haul of the U-Haul.  I did, however, purchase those fabrics at Clementine’s.

  1. first commenter. first commenter. that’s me. oh man, i’m famous. i just saw my name in your post and then i saw that you OUTED me. i wanted buttons first. i have no buttons. oh well,i have a belly button.. that’ll do inna pinch. it sucks though, since i’m fat, that baby we love that visits our house, has just been taught to search for people’s belly buttons. it’s not pretty. she keeps pulling up my shirt and looking around, amidst my screams and maniacal laughter.
love your uhaul overhaul. you’re brilliant. have i told you that lately?

  2. “Bounteous” is indeed a word! And she sounds like a funny lady. The idea of tomatoes packing up their gear and leaving the planet tickled my funny bone….

  3. OMG if it were only true…if all the ugly trucks were covered with wonderful fabrics the world would be a more beautiful place…LOL!

  4. I love the bunny fabric! We have to get DS back to school in a couple of weeks – luckily him and his girlfriend do the trip themselves – having to pay rent during the summer on off campus housing has one advantage – no need to lug a bunch of stuff home for the summer.

  5. Ok I could have used that idea a few times in the last few years. That brain is always clicking away Ms Anna. Maybe U-Haul could rent door cozies to match the mood of the driver behind. Me thinks there’s an idea for someone with ambition, LOL

    Hugs – Karen

  6. U-Haul needs to hire you to redesign their trucks! How much fun would that be? And to think I was excited when they put the state pictures on the sides of the trucks!

  7. First, amen about cell phones, what did we do?!!
Second, I am imagining coming along side of you on the freeway and seeing a camera out in front of your face while driving…multitasking again.
You had me ROFLOL with the swatches…I’ll take chocolate bunnies anytime.

  8. I remember riding in my mom’s car as she tried (and that’s the operative word, “tried”) to keep up with my father in the packing truck. They finally worked out a deal about stops at particular mile markers. And if she didn’t show up, he had to backtrack to find her (one time our car broke down).

Anyway, I love your U-Haul transformation. Possibly a note to U-Haul about this idea would inspire them to emulate you.

  9. girl, you are seriously funny. each picture made me giggle a little more and when i got to the new blog name i could hold it in no longer.

i’m off to read your friends.

  10. First of all, I was going to say you have way too much time on your hands! Then I remembered that looooooong move from Florida to North Carolina staring at the U-Haul all the way. Boooorrrring! What’s wrong with a little color in our lives? U-Haul could learn a thing or two from you! (Thanks for the comment on the blog. Not sure how FIL is doing. They are giving him a break for now until after all the scans and stuff. He’s headed for the mountains for some R and R.)

  11. I think you’ve missed your calling Anna….lol… Love the fabrics, shame they don’t have an online ordering site…..although I’m sure my dh will be pleased they don’t.

  12. Can you come and decorate my moving SEMI??? LOL!!! Make that plural. Cause one is not gonna be enough.
    You are so clever!

  13. me again.
okay, so i edited my last post to talk about penny’s giveaway cuz i’m too busy answering YOUR email to post and i don’t have new pics. except of tomatoes, and marinara and how many produce pics can one put on their blog before i get discounted as a farm stand anyway…
    :waves madly from farm country

  14. Do you realize that you could start your own business “Anna’s U-haul Redesigning” It would be a lot better than the ones you see driving the highways. Think about all the possibilities and you could strike it rich!!

  15. I will NEVER look at a U-Haul the same way again! You are truly a wonder, Anna. Beautifying America one U-Haul at a time! You go, girl! Love the fabrics, by the way.

  16. LOL! Sounds like a peaceful revolution–design-minded citizens unite! Next overhaul. . . UPS. “What can brown do for” me? Not much. Lets try a nice toile.
    :)

    You crack me up!!
I wish I knew how to do all the cool computer things you do. I love U HALL’s new look too very nice! Maybe you can start a business “Pimp MY U Hall”

  18. That’s so cool how you added the fabric to the U-Haul’s. A huge improvement.
I am drooling over that banana cream pie in the last post. Reminds me of a lemon meringue pie I used to make.

  19. So glad that all cupcakes are safe and sound. Doesn’t bear thinking about if they were to be hurt in any way. Love the cover ups, so much nicer.
