The Aunts’ Quilt — Month 9

Happy Hump Day! I know it’s no longer Hump Day for some of you — it’s almost not Hump Day here anymore either. That just makes it better!

It’s the 15th of the month though, and it’s time for another Aunts’ Quilt report. I’m just squeaking in under the wire. How are you little Auntlets doing out there? I think there are only a handful of you still hanging in there — Go You! Only three short months left and we’ll be done — the year is whizzing by!

Our assignment this month was the last two side triangles and two of the corner triangles. Here are mine:

Thimbleanna: Aunts' Quilt

I haven’t trimmed the blocks yet, that’s why the edges look funny. Not to worry though, it will all work out. Here’s my favorite block this month. I’m usually not a big fan of tulips in quilting, but I really like this one — I think it’s the colors.

Thimbleanna: Aunts' Quilt

And, as always, there’s a cookie of the month. TheManoftheHouse had a birthday yesterday, so I decided our cookie should be his favorite. Giant Snickerdoodles! These are really good and you should give them a try. They’re perfect for an afternoon of applique!

Thimbleanna: Aunts' Quilt

Next month will be a fun month for the Aunts’. We’re doing the last two corner triangles AND piecing the top (without the borders) together. I can’t wait! If you’re behind — work hard and catch up so you can see it all come together this month!

I leave you with a video you’ve probably seen before but I love it. Some people think it’s staged, but I don’t care — you can’t help but laugh! (Clicking on the screen probably won’t work, so click HERE instead.)

XOXO,
Anna

  1. Should I admit that I mostly come by on these monthly posts just for the cookie of the month? It’s not that I don’t greatly admire the quilting but….

  2. I love this quilt!!!, can’t wait to see it finished. Appliqué is my favorite and I love your fabric choices. It’s so cheery. And I must say it would make an awfully nice Christmas gift for a friend????

  3. Looking good!! And that’s just the cookies!! I love your fabrics – your triangles are fabulous. I promise to work hard again this month to get all caught up (once I find my Aunts’ Quilt project box when I restore all my sewing to the studio!!)

  4. I love a good laugh first thing when I get up in the morning. This video really made my day. Could not happen anywhere than in America! Your blocks are fabulous as always and I especially love the fabric for the tulip of your favorit block. It’s utterly perfect. I’ve been stitching away yesterday all afternoon after I’ve seen your IG picture. Always helps to get a little hint ;)!

  5. love the quilt blocks – snickerdoodles are a favorite here – couldn’t get the video to open for some reason

  6. Your blocks are gorgeous, as always, the cookies look delicious, but it’s the video, which I had not seen, that has a giant smile of my face! What fun, and they both are so talented. Rock on!
