The Aunts’ Quilt – Month 2

OH. MY. GOSH. Didyamissme???? Probably not — you’re too busy to even notice that I was gone. BUT. My happy little place here on the internet was hacked two weeks ago. Let’s just say, if you’re a middle aged man seeking a little blue pill to aid in your horizontal refreshment (as Sherlock (not THE Sherlock, but the American version) referred to it), THIS was the place to be. (See Carole? It wasn’t your imagination when the drug offer popped up on your screen!)

Anyway, it took 11 long days and HOURS and hours on the phone with tech support. There are still a few little things that are wrong, but they can stay that way for a few weeks — I’m tired of messing with it! And I’ll have you know — when I rule the world, hackers WILL be waterboarded. Multiple times. And then they’ll be drawn and quartered and then shot by a firing squad. The End.

Lots has happened around here in the meantime. You know … the holidays are upon us. The highlight was last weekend when TheFirstChild and SweetiePie came for an early Christmas (their year with the in-laws). We had a good time, but now I’m sad they we won’t see them again until January sometime. SweetiePie left her mark on the kitchen chalkboard, so, at least I can smile every time I walk through the kitchen.

Now, on to the Aunts’ Report. Your fearless leader fell behind this month, but I’m sure I’ll be caught up by the Month 3 report. I managed to get some stems and leaves stitched down. Still to do are the pieced blocks and choosing of fabrics for the rest of the applique block. I’m having soooo much fun with this pattern!

And, let’s not forget the Cookie of the Month! We must have refreshment while we’re stitching. You long-time readers may remember my Christmas cookie true love — Angel Slices. So, naturally, it only makes sense that those sweet little cookies should be the Cookie of the Month.

So, sorry to have been so late with the quilt report this month — if I’m late again I hope I won’t have a good excuse, because we don’t need any more of that brand of blog fun for awhile! In the meantime — only 5 more days! Are you ready???

XOXO,
Anna

  1. So sorry to hear about the hacking, I will add them to my list in case I ever become king of the world! I hope that you have a great Christmas and New Year and that you have lots of fun quilting up a storm over the holidays. Happy Christmas! xx

  2. I saw the post on Bloglovin that Amy L is talking about and wondered what was going on. I’m glad you’ve got most of it sorted. What a complete pain in the you-know-what!

Your appliqué block looks great. I accidentally typed “your appliqué bloke looks great” and made myself giggle at the very idea of an appliqué bloke!! :oD

Have a wonderful Christmas, Anna, and a happy New Year!

  3. My Dad used to say that people should be taken out and shot every morning for a fortnight – sounds like a good punishment for the hackers!! Glad you are back, and I’m loving the look of you applique. I’m looking forward to getting on with mine now that the Christmas sewing is finished!
Have a wonderful Christmas and Happy (hacker free) New Year
    Anne xoxo

  4. Oh no so sorry to hear about the hacking, what a shame and how stressful! Glad you have got it sorted and thank you for making me smile despite all the hassle you have endured! Your quilt is looking so fresh and colourful, lovely! Love those cookies, they look delicious. I have just had a cup of tea and a mini mince pie (bought though) :)
    Merry Christmas!

  5. hackers suck … there oughta be a Special Place in Hell for them! and identity thieves, too!

love, love, love those green and white stripes – so suh-weet!!!

  6. i’m so sorry that it took so long to get your little site back up and running. that is just horrible. do you think it was north korea? what motivation does someone have to hack into a quilting/cooking/sewing/sisterstolethejeep blogity blog blog? i just don’t get it. i haven’t made those cookies yet. the first time i looked at the recipe the ingredients didn’t seem as though they would play well, but since you’ve placed them onto those adorable santa snack plates and dubbed them a fave, i’m going to have to break down and do it. sweetipie does an amazing job with chalk, doesn’t she??? perhaps on her next visit to california she can perk up my chalk boards. does she use chalk or a chalkboard pen to do that? i’m lucky if my grocery list is legible. your stems and leaves look great. i like how you changed it up on the leaf color and i see that pink flower peeking out from underneath your buddy sewing case.
i just went to your little store to buy one and some of those bee scissors. i’ll check back when you re-open.
i heard a little rumor that you’re going to have something VERY SPECIAL in your store in the 1st of January.
    IS IT TRUE???????
well let’s just hope there’s justice for all…….
    Merry Christmas my friend.

  7. Anna,
The things that I would do to hackers are un-publishible and likely align me to the CIA and IS combined (each is as bad as each other – political rant over). Just suffice to say that none of it would be quick or ever let up!

On a happier note – we are slipping into the mode and having our first Christmas in our lovely new home. Do have a lovely Christmas yourself – we have the ham and turkey ready in the fridge.

    Peace be with you.

  8. So glad you’re back on line – yes, I did miss you! Desired punishment for hackers sooo appropriate. Your appliqué block looks lovely. SweetiePie is so clever – love her chalkboard message. Merry Christmas!

  9. Oh, NO!!! I am so sorry. And I don’t disagree, your punishment choices seem perfectly reasonable to me. Just not right. Here you are going along minding your own business and having a good time and some sorry person has to come along and mess with you. Not right. Glad you’re basically back, your applique is adorable! That is going to be a gorgeous quilt. I’ll just enjoy watching you work on it. I’m having enough fun with the BH mystery. ;) Merry Christmas, my friend! I wish you the joy of the season and no more bad stuff! <3
