The Aunts’ Quilt and More

Hey Hey — Guess What???  I think the problem with my comments not being forwarded to my e-mail has been fixed {crosses fingers}!  Now I can respond to your comments. Thank you so much to all of you who have been commenting and been so patient when not hearing from me.  {Smooches!}

Don’t you love this time of year?  I love reading everyone’s plans for the new year.  Are you a person who chooses a word?  I’m not — although, one year I chose “chocolate” for my word.  How could a year with chocolate in it go wrong?  Jodi has chosen a funny word this year.  I admit, I wasn’t sure I understood when she posted it on instagram, but she’s provided more detail in her latest post.  And did you read Suzanne’s phrase for the new year?  I LOVE it.  If I had a phrase, that’s what I’d want it to be!

So, it was back to work today {insert tantrum throwing, screaming child here}, but I did manage a little sewing before re-entry.  I finished the Aunts’ Quilt blocks for month 2 — woohoo, I’m officially caught up! (And by the way — a standing ovation to Lina and Karen R for actually finishing their blocks on time this month — you ladies get big brownie points for keeping on schedule during the holidays!  Check their blocks out — they’re all so pretty!)

Here are my two pieced blocks for the month:

Thimbleanna: Month 2

And the applique block:

Thimbleanna: Month 2

I LOVE doing these applique blocks.  I’m having so much fun choosing the fabrics.  Did you notice my favorite little part of this block?

Thimbleanna: Month 2

He reminds me of Winston.  I’m well on my way with the Month 3 blocks — only 10 more days to stay on schedule — how are the rest of you Auntlets doing?  Hmmmm?

Before I go — Downton Abbey is back — WooHoo!!!  Have you seen the fun Downton Abbey segments with George Clooney (the Marquess of Hollywood haha)?  See Part 1 HERE and Part 2 HERE.  If you’re a Downton fan, go check it out!

XOXO,
Anna

  1. Sorry it was back to work time for you – I hope re-entry went smoothly. Ok I’m lovin the Auntie blocks – they are so fresh, bright and happy – your fabrics and so pretty and that little fussy cut pup – be still my heart. I so would like to play along – maybe I should just do 4 little blocks – I will keep it on the list. I’m narrowing my word down – I think it helps me to some degree – I love the word chocolate – PERFECT lol. As always you inspire and make this girlie laugh. Have an awesome week Ms. Thimbles

  2. How nice to find your cheery blocks on this rainy morning in Istanbul! They look terrific, Anna. I’m finding that pattern more and more appealing, if possible, with each of your new posts!

  3. Oh, those blocks are so pretty! My list of projects is officially full at the moment but I rather wish I had space for just … one … more …

Happy New Year! My smaller girl is back to school today, taller one tomorrow. I think I am officially more fed up about that than they are!

  4. Such a fun post Anna, I love the word Dipstick shosen by Jodi and the phrase from Suzanne. Something to give some thought, to find a 2015 word!
Love your appliqué block, loooove it!
Downton Abbey’s season 5 started at the end of November here, so we only have a few more episodes to watch. Love the plots!

  5. I got sidetracked by the Downton Abby links, lol. Very good! Your blocks are looking great and thanks for the links to the other blogs.

  6. Thanks for posting the Downton links. I saw a little of that on the news but hadn’t seen the whole thing. Enjoyable!! That made my day.

  7. The wee doggy is gorgeous – as is the rest of the block, of course! But the wee doggy is gorgeousest. I’m pretty sure that’s not a word … but it should be! LOL

  8. I didn’t want Downton, even though the Christmas special was filmed in Alnwick, I really must catch up! I have seen the George Clooney spin off though, loved it x

I don’t have a word for the year either, although I agree chocolate would be a good one, or cake x

  9. Gorgeous blocks, well done. I was hoping to do a bit more on mine during our holidays, but that didn’t happen. Now I really have to pull up my socks and get going.

  10. I hadn’t yet seen the Downton spots. I chuckled aloud a few times! Thanks for sharing. Your applique block is my favorite this month! :) I normally do a “One Little Word” but haven’t yet… Although these fun blog posts of friends you’ve shared have me thinking. :) Happy New Year, Anna!
