It’s the Weekend!

Yay! I love it when the weekend rolls around. Sleeping In. Catching Up. Quilting. Knitting. Whatever!

I’ve been the very lucky recipient of two lovely packages this week. First up from Anne — she sent me some beautiful stitchery patterns that she drew herself along with a pretty postcard. Very cute angels and a fab thistle. I’m especially drawn to the thistle which probably comes as no surprise with my Scottish addiction. Thank you so much Anne — they’re adorable and you’re such a sweetie!

Theennnn….I was lucky enough to win a fabric giveaway from Quilt Taffy.  Four fat quarters of Punctuation from American Jane.  It’s such a cute fabric and I LOVE the alphabet print.  Someone asked me what I’m going to do with it.  I have no idea — any fun suggestions?  Corrie and Des are so amazingly generous — they’re always having fat quarter giveaways.  If you don’t subscribe to their blog and you love fabric, you should.  Thanks for the great giveaways ladies!

From Quilt Taffy

So…on to the weekend.  I hope you have a fun one planned.  I’m in the middle of phase three of the kitchen paint project at MeMum’s and I’m hoping to do a little quilting this weekend too.  I’ve been lucky enough to quilt a bit each night this past week.  The big fat EmptyNestChild helps every night too.  He’s so funny — he sees me sit down with my quilt and then he jumps up to cuddle up under it.  I have a few straight pins along the edge and I’m wondering if maybe he got stuck, as last night he was nipping at one of them.  He’s certainly entertaining!

Oh, and a little blog note.  Thank you so much to all of you who stop by here and comment.  I try so hard to always answer my comments but in the past week or two, some of the comments aren’t being forwarded to my e-mail.  I can’t remember how I figured it out and I can’t seem to find out what triggers it.  It seems totally random, but for example, of the last 5 comments left on the last post, only 3 were forwarded to my e-mail.  Anyway, it’s really hard to answer them if they don’t pop up in my e-mail.  Just didn’t want anyone to think I don’t love and VERY much appreciate your comment if you don’t hear from me!

XOXO,
Anna

  1. Happy weekend to you! I tried to sleep longer this morning but was still awake at 8am! Tomorrow morning is a run so no long lie then either!

Love the fabric you won – I never seem to get exciting mail any more – just bills! Oh well and I did get a cheque for £150 from my mortgage provider to cover the cost of my valuation survey so can’t complain too much!

  2. Hope you have a lovely weekend, quilting with your little helper :o)

Love those fabrics you won. They’d mxake a really cute market bag.

    xx

  3. Cats and quilts just go together! El Puddy Gato [see if that takes me to your moderation bin!] loves to snuggle up on whatever I’m working on, unconcerned about any inconvenience to me! Love that quilt you’re working on…..

  4. I’ll have to go back and check my comments just in case — I was just saying to Hub , I can’t believe Saturday has gone already and we haven’t done anything , but then again maybe thats not such a bad thing lol

  5. lucky duck!! i won from des and corrie a few weeks ago! what a great pair those gals are, huh?have a great weekend…i think the rain is to stop tomorrow…

  6. Ooh lovely gifts. Your kitty sounds as though he is a great helper. I always wonder how cats never get pricked with needles and pins!

  7. Oh what lovely gifts…I started on the block of the month quilt I’m making this weekend and I really have to say I enjoy it a lot and can’t figure out why I don’t quilt more often.

  8. My big kitty boy was in my lap as I worked a binding this week, only he weighs enough that I couldn’t shift the quilt to keep sewing. I gave up and let him be.

  9. Lovely fabric! Hope the painting went well. I find the occasional comment that hasn’t appeared in my email, but not often enough to be a problem. I don’t reply to every comment I get (don’t always have enought time) but I do try to reply to any questions. The one thing I always do is visit the blog of anyone who visits for the first time, to say thanks for visiting and to read what they post.

  10. What a lot of pretty little half square triangles you have there! And lots of pretyy mail goodies, too. I don’t know what it is about cats and quilts, but they seem to sort of go together. At least I can’t keep Chloe off mine. She has to inspect my work.

  11. This is my first time to tour site…I found you through Sharon @ red geranium cottage. Those are great prizes you got in the mail…the fabrics are very sweet. Your kitty is probably thinking the quilt is there for him!

  12. Cats and projects. They just go together. My Miss Tinkie loves to snoop in my craft room or lay on the piles of freshly folded laundry that always seem to be about this house. She tries each pile until one suits her. Then she naps to her hearts content on it. I think I would like to be a cat. Wouldn’t you?

  13. One of these days, I’m going to stay home from work, get caught up on your posts, and try a couple of your recipes! Your blog is one of the coziest ones I read, and I hate when I get behind.

Your kitty is so fun. They do think that our projects are just there for their comfort it seems.

  14. What lovely prizes you won. Congrats, now you get to play. Love your kitty, my little dogs love to cuddle up in whatever I’m hand sewing.

  15. It is so odd…looking over your posts. I have not gotten notice of one of your posts I think for the whole of August. You had so many that I don’t remember seeing. I started to check out all the comments to make sure I had not commented on some of them – which would meant that I am losing it, lol. I do love reading your blog and seeing all your great pictures.

  16. I really want to do a Halloween quilt and am having a lot of trouble finding a place to buy some. Where did you get your fabric?
We are in the throws of a massive kitchen/family room reno and I have set Oct 30 as our finishing date hence we are throwing a massive Halloween party- makes sense? Any way this wall hanging would really finish things off don’t you think? I really enjoy your blog. I am one of those who read all the time but never comment!
    Thanks again.
    Dara

  17. I love what you did with the Ghastlies. They are my all time favorite Halloween fabric. Still trying to decide between orange & grey. I’m hoarding a bolt of each :-). Your borders look great.
