Happy Halloween!

Gosh, where is this week going already? I guess I shouldn’t complain — it just means the weekend is getting closer! I had a great quiet weekend last weekend. I managed to get several little sewing projects done. Of course, I can’t show them to you yet, ’cause they’re surprises. Don’t you hate it when someone tells you that? I have something but I can’t show you. How rude! Oh, ok, I can tell you that I worked on my box for the chocolate swap! Not much consolation is it?

Tonight, I made Magnolia cupcakes to take to work tomorrow. I made a bunch for my birthday a month ago and everyone seemed very appreciative, so I thought I’d make some for Halloween too. The kitchen looked like a war zone at the North Pole. For some reason I got powdered sugar and sprinkles everywhere. It sure was fun though and now they’re all boxed up and ready to go.

I love these cupcakes. (I mean, not these particular ones ’cause they turned out a little goofy with the black sprinkles and all — what I love it the Magnolia cupcake taste.) If you don’t have the Magnolia cookbook you’re in luck — I found the recipe here a few weeks ago. Check it out ’cause their picture is way cooler than mine! Maybe someday I can learn their cool swirly icing technique.
I’m all ready for my little trick-or-treaters tomorrow night. I used to hate to hand out candy when we were younger, but now I just love seeing the little kids come to the door. (Although, what’s up with all the high school kids these days? When we were kids, we quit trick-or-treating when we were around 12 — now, I’ll bet 1/4 – 1/3 of the kids that appear at my door are older than 12!) If you do trick-or-treaty kinds of stuff tomorrow, I hope you have a great time!
XOXO,
Anna

  1. I am impressed with those cupcakes – very pretty.

we don’t really do halloween here – although I do notice a few kids walking around trying to trick or treat (not mine though).

Hope you have great time – with all those kids on your doorstep

  2. I love *your* cupcakes – and I’m not sure what you’re talking about… they aren’t the least little bit goofy! I think they’re stunning.

And now you’ve got me craving a cupcake.
And it’s 5 in the morning here.

    That’s just a wee bit evil….

(and might I just add how impressed I am with your professional packaging??? So cool to have an official cupcake box and all…)

  3. As long as the teenagers have a good attitude, I don’t mind them. I wish I would have gone trick or treating longer than I did!

(Of course, when they steal from me it does tick me off more than a little. LOL)

  4. Happy Halloween to you too Anna – will you be busy dancing to the Monster Mash!!!! Love those cakes, I’m off to check the recipe …

  5. Happy Halloween! Your cupcakes look good enough to eat right through my computer screen. With one of those and a hot cup of coffee, I’d be in Heaven.

  6. You know, I have been having a really bad day and before I logged off I thought I would treat myself to 15 mins of casual blog flicking starting with people who took time to comment on the twelveby12 blog. And so I start with you and …wow! Happy cakes. I am going to make them now. Literally. See you!

  7. I love to see all the little ones dressed up for Halloween, and always hope for lots of trick or treaters.
    Your cupcakes look soooo good!

    Happy Halloween Anna!

  8. Ooooh, those look very yummy! (cute too)
That’s one thing I really miss not being in town, is seeing all the little kids in their costumes. Altho I know what you mean about all the older kids showing up for free candy as well- Hey, if you’re shaving, it’s time to buy your own candy!! : )

ps. I thought the same thing as you about those pics of my van after it got crunched – that would be one great commercial for Chrysler!

  9. My waistline’s expanding just looking at those cupcakes. We used to call them queen cakes when I was growing up. I enjoyed reading your craft meme! Embroidery is the first craft I learned too. Then the nuns took us in hand and we all learned how to knit. Sewing came later, in secondary school. My mother was talented at all of this but never really taught me any of it. Just like she didn’t teach me how to cook. I mostly learned at school or taught myself. Crafts are addictive. Don’t know how antone can fully enjoy life without creating stuff!

  10. I think yours are prettier! Actually, I’m jealous cause they look pretty like the bakery kind and I never can do that. I’ve given up on decorating cookies, or doing anything other than spatula-spread icing on cakes cause I’m miserably awful at it…LOL. You’re really quite good!
Can you send me one? I’m drooling now.

  11. I Love Halloween! Also Love the cupcakes Anna, to perfect. Had a grand time passing out candy last night. Wish I had one of your cupcakes right now.

  12. Oh! Oh! Oh! everyone’s been writing such a lot while I’ve been desperately trying to keep up with work! Really nice posts, though. Those cup cakes look… good enough to eat. Well, you know what I mean. On the screen, they look almost real.

  13. Your cupcakes look sooo good! What are you on about? Even with the black sprinkles, they all look yummy. You really are a domestic goddess….I’m hopeless at baking. Just packet stuff for me.

  14. YUM, YUM, YUM! The black sprinkles are awesome!! I am wiping the drool from the corner of my mouth so as not to get the keyboard wet – lol!
