Bye-Bye May

Well, I hate to have another incredulous post about how time is flying, but I can’t help it! Tomorrow is June 1st — WTW??? I can’t seem to get caught up from the aftermath of the quilt market trip — I still have half a messy suitcase sitting on the bedroom floor. It’s pitiful.

But, enough whining. Here’s a bunch of random, which sort of reflects how random May felt. Hopefully I’ll be a little more organized in June (a girl can dream!):

Thimbleanna: Grad Quilt Peek

  • I am actually sewing a bit (in between all the yardwork and prepping beds for mulching). Working on the last high school graduation quilt in our family. My youngest niece will graduate next week and hopefully her quilt will be ready for her. ;-P

Thimbleanna: Secret Garden

  • Have you been following the adult coloring book craze? Did you know that people are embroidering some of the designs from the Johanna Basford books? Mary Corbet at Needle and Thread has done a gorgeous version of a hummingbird design (Go Look!), and Elaine at Emily’s Cupboard is doing a super cute scarecrow.

Thimbleanna: London Map

Thimbleanna: Gardenvale

  • A few new long-awaited arrivals in my little etsy shop. London Map by 3 Sisters for Moda — I think it will make a great quilt back for my Union Jack quilt. Assuming I can ever find time to get back to those blocks! And Gardenvale by Jen Kingwell. It was sold out, but since the order was over a month late, a pre-order cancelled, so now there is one tower left.
  • This fuzzy little heathen

    Thimbleanna: Paul Kitty

has attacked every roll of TP in every bathroom in the house. He’s driving us crazy. I think he’s trying to tell us something — too bad we don’t know what it is!

Thimbleanna: Paul Kitty

  • And, do you remember this little project bag I made a few weeks ago?

    Thimbleanna: Project Bag

They’re really simple to make, but I had a few questions about them, so I’ll try and show you how I make them next time.

Have a great week!
XOXO,
Anna

  1. Can’t wait for the tutorial. You’ve been busy! Time flies the older I get. My sewing room has been ripped up and messy for a year now. Every time start to organize it, it just gets worse. I am in need of professional help. Is there such a thing as a professional yarn/fabric/craft person? HELP!!!!!

  2. Oh my goodness, what is your cat trying to tell you? At least it’s TP and not your crafty projects. Maybe he’s saying – Quick, go and unpack your bag before the clock ticks over and it’s June!! Good luck finishing the graduation quilt in time. I love the idea of embroidered pieces of Secret Garden.
Here’s link to a quilter who machine quilted designs from the Secret Garden book

  3. Oh your little gremlin! He looks like he cares less about the mess he made. You have to admire cats.
I hope you’ll share the graduation quilt –
Love that London map fabric! too fun. Looking forward to the tutorial

  4. looks like kitty is in trouble – I don’t know how you can solve that other than shutting the doors. Love that big bundle of fabric.

  5. Happy Monday! And Happy June! I also can’t wait for the tutorial!! I already bought a couple of zippers after seeing the pouch you made because I LOVE it. And “Soft Kitty, Warm Kitty…” What are you thinking??? What a mystery. But kinda funny too… Let us know when you find out what she’s trying to tell you. And now I am going to look up those books you mention. They look like something I need. As always, THANKS for sharing and for the great start to the week and month.

  6. I love to color the American Girl “Design By Me” books. I have even thought to use parts of those designs to make embroidered t-shirts for Frannie. They’re a lot of fun. Can’t wait to see how you make those project bags!

  7. i jumped to your etsy shop. lots new since last i looked. i ** love ** your map bundle. busy month indeed…somehow you forgot to mention a knitting lesson… (goodness…that wasnt April was it??). looking forward to your tutorial.

  8. I think I’m all caught up now. Had to go and read your Quilt Market recap too. I’ve been keeping busy with sewing projects but Instagram takes the fun out of writing a blog post. I need to get better at that. I haven’t posted anything since Easter!

  9. I’m looking forward to your tutorial! I’ve been looking at Johanna Basford’s coloring books a lot lately. I think my husband would enjoy one, as a Father’s Day gift. Better get on that, I think… :)

  10. Yes, where on earth has May gone? Was very tempted by those lovely fabrics by Jen Kingwell, but have put myself on a serious fabric diet ;)! We had a cat once which did exactly the same with all the papers in the house she could get her little paws on. I think she even ate it and on more than one occasion I had to write a note to the teacher, that the cat had eaten the kids’s homework!

  11. This year is just flying by!! I have been trying to ignore the colouring books – I have enough projects on the go!!

  12. Love the top picture…I hope you get the graduation quilt finished! Some lovely fabrics there……….and the colouring book is so pretty. Sometimes some of my actual design work is like colouring in, once I have drawn the outline and then start adding the colour :)
The months do fly by faster and faster…let’s hope June slows down a bit!
    Happy week.

  13. Hum … from the looks of the TP, it may be that it has a difficult time unrolling it to obtain a workable piece?! No one likes to use a bunch of ripped pieces of TP. Excuse me while I go and compose myself for my customers! ;P
