Boppy into Spring

Ooooh, sorry about that post title.  I couldn’t think of anything else.  But, if you can get past it, I’ll show you this pretty picture of the phlox at the end of our driveway.  Spring is finally here with the first little blooms, buds on all the trees, and a robin building her nest on top of one of our downspouts.  I haven’t seen my favorite DuckCouple yet, but I’m holding out hope!  Anyway, it was a stunning weekend here — perfect, sunny temps all weekend — just gorgeous!

Thimbleanna: Phlox

MyDadLovesMeBestSister had a b.e.a.u.t.i.f.u.l. baby shower for SweetiePie yesterday, and as soon as I sift through the pictures, I’ll give you a peek.  Think Pink!  ;-D  In the meantime, here are a few pictures of another present I gave SweetiePie last week at the Baby Shower that her family had for her.  I purchased a Boppy and then made a few covers for it.  For the first one, I used a pink polka-dotted Robert Kaufman cuddle fabric on the top side.  Oh man, is that stuff ever soft and cozy!

On the bottom, I used  a little pink and gray fox print.  And a really long zipper.  ;-D .  For the pattern, I purchased a cheap little cover at our local Meijer and used it as a model.  I discovered that the pre-made ones are made out of such cheap cotton, and they make them large so that they’ll still fit after they are washed.  Therefore, I had to make mine a little smaller than the sample cover.

For a fun little touch, I inserted Riley Blake’s Mini Pom Poms.  SweetiePie loves her some pom poms!

I also made a second cover (in more neutral colors in case there might be a little boy some day ;-D) because, well, in case of a spit-up (or worse!) emergency.  I love that cute little alphabet cuddle print!

Boppys are a pretty cool idea — I wish we’d had them when we had babies.  They’re great for the mother to use when nursing that new little babe, and later, they provide nice padding for a baby learning to sit.  I pressed Teddy into demo service, but he’s pretty short waisted, so the boppy almost swallowed him.

So, another fun baby project completed. I should just apologize for drowning you in baby makes, but a) I’m having so much fun sewing for baby, and b) hopefully it won’t last too much longer (except for the occasional gift as the baby grows, of course ;-D!)

More to come — I know you’re waiting on the edge of your seat LOL. Have a great week!
XOXO,
Anna

  1. You are not drowning us in baby makes at all. It is fun to see your great ideas! Looking forward to what’s next!

  2. I love the baby stuff. Keep it coming! Since our family is no where near a grandchild milestone, it’s fun to live vicariously through you.

Keeping my fingers crossed for an engagement this year!

  3. I didn’t know what that was. I must be really old but it is really cute, even if I don’t know how it would be used. Sweetie-Pie is one lucky daughter-in-law.

  4. These are both SO cute. And yet again, you have informed me. I never heard of a boppy. Can you tell there have been no babies around here for years? I love to see what you’ve made, so never hesitate to show!

  5. Good Job Grandma! (Or are you going to be Nana, or Mimi or Grammy or some other cute title? ) Anyway – the Boppy is super cute. I love some nice cuddle fabric :)

  6. Here we go again – once more confused by our cultural divide. A boppy? Looks like a neck cushion to me. Do you lie the baby on them while feeding them? Like a cushion…? which you may well call a pillow, though here pillows are only on beds. It’s very difficult!

  7. A wonderful gift. One of my DILs and my DD love their boppies. The other DIL never really used hers much. That extra cushion under the arms of mama would be nice, I think. Cute, cute covers.

  8. Anna, these came out so cute! Love the Pom Pom trim. Las year I added purple pompoms to edge of the blackout drapes in my granddaughter Ahana’s room. Have enough for a pillow…when I get to it! Can’t wait to see the shower pictures, it’s such a joyous time!

  9. so cute. Your covers are lovely. I’ve never seen these – and wish they had them too.
What fun baby things are – keep them coming!!

Every year I plan to plant more flox maybe this is the year.

  11. As I have no grandchildren only a sweet grand doggie, I love the baby sewing shares. :o) Love your projects and your new blog banner is beautiful too.

  12. what sweet boppy covers! I have a cousin that is expecting her first (a girl too!) in August. I’m working on a diaper bag for her but a few boppy covers would be a cute idea. I may have to “borrow” this idea and make a pattern to follow. The boppy covers are so expensive to boot!

  13. Those are pretty sweet, Anna. I’m so excited for you!! No babies here yet, but they have plenty of time. Enjoy this beautiful time!!!! xoxox

  14. Hey Anna! I LOVE your boppy covers! They are so adorably cute. I have a couple neck pillows that are similar to a boppy and have tried to figure out a pattern for a cover – I will steal your idea and look for a cheapie cover at the store to use. Lucky baby will have so many sweet things!!
