Another Little Purse Thingy

Well, hello there — I hope you’re having a nice weekend! I’ve had a great one so far — I spent the day with my VBFF’s, the Quilty Peeps. Gurney hadn’t been to the Sock Yarn Store yet, so she jetted in to town to check it out. Then we went to a few other yarn shops and one quilt shop. Throw in a fab lunch and it was a perfect day. I do love my peeps — Thanks ladies for a fun time!

I managed a leeeetle bit of sewing this week. As you can see, my little coin purse was getting pretty ragged. I use it all the time and I was afraid it might fray all the way through if I used it much longer.

So, I made a new one (instructions here). This time I used a black and white fabric, to match my backpack (sitting there in the background). You can’t really tell, but I decided to try a scrap of black vinyl in place of that part that was fraying out. We’ll see if it lasts any better this time.

Hey — did you notice my sock monkey keys? I had two keys that I constantly mixed up, so when I saw these key covers, I thought I’d try them out. I think they’re really cute!

And finally, it was a good mail week here in ThimbleannaLand. The Ruby Charm Packs that I ordered forever-ago finally arrived. (Which meant I could finally ship off the prizes from the guess-the-stove-knob-color contest – Yay!) The official Moda story is that Ruby won’t show up in your local quilt shop until October 11th, but we saw some in our local quilt shop today. And, if you’d like a charm pack or two, I’ve put some of these in my little shop.

If you buy two or more charm packs, I’ll throw in a pair of those cute polka dotted scissors that I’ve been hoarding. (If you haven’t seen them, they’re pictured on the Ruby order page.)

Now I’m off to curl up with the latest Martha Stewart magazine that arrived earlier this week and was put aside until quiet time. I hope you get some quiet time too!

    Sewing, knitting…sounds like a good weekend to me! LOVE the sock monkey key covers. Gotta get me some of those, I think! Love your new little purse too. The quick projects are sometimes just what you need to feel a bit of accomplishment! Enjoy the rest of your weekend, Anna :)

    Thanks for reminding me that you have a tutorial for your handy little coin purse on your blog. That’s exactly what I need as our new place doesn’t have keys but an access card. It would be perfect for my car keys, the swipe card and driver’s license as well as a bit of money and and I’m all set and don’t have to look through all my pockets before I find what I need. Perfect!

    Love the key covers…makes life so much easier when you are fumbling for your keys at night.

    Having an a-ok weekend so far…just very aware I having posted on my blog since the end of August! Guess redecorating and back to school have taken up more time than I thought!

    I love those monkey keys!!! I can never find which house key is the right one, because I never use it but when I do I go through each one on my key ring to find it.

I have several keys I’m constantly mixing up…..Do you think we’ll get to see wedding pics today? Or will Isabelle be too exhausted from yesterday’s festivities?

    ooooh, and by local do you mean Fabric and Friends? i havent been there in awhile and i was wondering if they had gotten in some new lines…not that i need any…and not that i can get myself on their email list because ive asked about 6 times and it just isn’t happening…maybe that is a good thing??

    i found matroyshka key covers in a little shop in san francisco. my problem it that they are too thick to fit on my key ring. :(

    Where did you find those key covers? I’m so needing one or two. I adore Ruby. And, what’s funny is I didn’t really like those colors before. I’m truly a pink and purple kinda girl. But, I’ve noticed a shift in my personal stash.
