A Question of Pattern

A month or two ago, my long-time blog friend Jody posted some cute Cath Kidston shoes on Pinterest.  “Ooooh, those are cute” I thought to myself.  And then I clicked through to the Cath Kidston site thinking it might be fun to have a little look around.  Oh. So. Naughty.  For I had a weak moment and clicked all the way through to the shopping cart and ended up with these little tennies.  (Not the same ones that Jody originally pinned, but I felt the darker color would be safer for picking up dirt.)

They’re terribly comfy, but now I have a dilemma.  Nothing to go with them.  I plan on wearing them with jeans, but clearly, I’ll need a top that coordinates.  I thought a little check or gingham might look cute, so I went to my stash to try a few things out.  I do love the red gingham.

But the pink is cute too.

Or maybe my aqua gingham?

The aqua gingham is from my Children at Play stash and I discovered that most of my “children” fabrics would possibly work too.  The meadow….

Or dots.  I have several dots.  Red…

Or pink on pink.

I even like the pink in the hopscotch print with the pink in the roses.

Decisions, decisions.  It’s going to be a VERY tough choice — but a good problem to have, don’t you think?

In other news, it’s a fun weekend here in ThimbleannaLand.  Yesterday was MyDadLovesMeBestSister’s birthday.  (Happy Birthday Weinerhead!)  She’s 29.  Again.  We had a little get-together for her last night (not quite as exciting as this birthday) — look at the beautiful Italian Cream Cake that MeMum made for a surprise!

Cake

Yum Yum Yummy!  And, to add to the excitement, TheFirstChild has surprised us with a weekend visit.  So…I’m outta here!  Have a great weekend!

XOXO,
Anna

  1. I think ALL of the fabrics will work alongside the CK pumps! You really ought to get back to the website and buy the scattered rose T-shirt or the pinny flowers T.

I wondered if the shoes would be comfy or not. I’m glad to hear that they are. I wonder why the “pumps” are less expensive than the “plimsolls” that you bought?

  2. I have to tell you that this made me laugh out loud. I wear whatever shoes I can find – never mind if they match anything!

I suppose next you will tell me that Jack shouldn’t be wearing stripes with plaid? (Raises brow). LOLOL

  3. Hmmm, I’m going with the meadows print- just lovely!

But I am amazed (but not shocked) that you actually have that much fabric in your stash that you can choose from!!

And the cake looks very very yummy. Mmmm

  4. Your shoes are so cute Anna and you’re right the darker color always stays “cleaner” lol. I always feel like my feet look huge in this style though, even though they aren’t that big… my Mom loved baking Italian Cream Cakes, so yummy, enjoy every minute. ;)

  5. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! I love those shoes! They are one of the things I stare at when I get on the Cath Kidston site. Those, and the Victoria Rose Espadrilles which, sadly, are only available shipped from the UK. As for the tops- I say just make all of them. They all look stinking cute! :)

  6. LOVE the shoes and am now considering the pumps. Was wondering if the size conversion works pretty true to size?

  7. Ooh I think you should make different tops in all the fabrics and then you can wear those fab shoes all the time! I have to say the fabrics are all gorgeous and you could have yourself a whole new wardrobe for summer then. The birthday cake looks delicious, how clever your mum is for making such delicious things!

  8. okay so tell me the truth. did you REALLY get off of the cath site with just one little purchase? and ANY of those fabric choices will work. i’m partial to the red gingham and then well, just about all those dots. have fun with mr FirstChild and happy bday to the jeep stealer.

  9. Hey Anna, just been catching up on your last few posts . All of those fabrics go with those cute shoes I don’t envy you having to make that choice. I think an easier choice would be to have another piece of cake :-)

  10. Hi Anna,
Although generally a sucker for anything floral, I vote for the pink on pink dots. Something about that print makes me happy! Glad you’re having a nice weekend.
    :) Amy

  11. Gorgeous shoes. I have been looking for some summery tennis shoes. And there’s a Cath Kidston shop in Cambridge. Oh, Anna, what have you started?!

  12. My first thought is the red and white gingham… but I keep going back to the two blue fabrics. I really, really like those. They’re a bit unexpected. Whatever you choose, you’ll rock it and then the rest of us will want some of those sneaks too. (They’re very cute, by the way.)

I hope the cake tasted as amazing as it looks. :)

  13. I think one of each would be good – lots of choice then!! Luuurrrvvve those shoes! (now why didn’t I see them at Cath’s store??!!)

  14. I’m loving those shoes! And the fabric! I have no idea how you decide which ones to go for!

I remember a while back Converse Red had shoes designed by Camilla Engman – and they now reside in my wardrobe!

  15. For sure that cake is not low glycemic! because I wouldn’t be craving it if it wasn’t. I love the red gingham with a little aqua trim, maybe, if you were wondering what I thought, although my mind is still on the cake!

  16. Adorable tennis shoes! I vote for the aqua gingham. And I want a pair of those, too.

Hope you enjoy your weekend with your son.

  17. Ok, I know your going to think I’ll say RED but I’m going with the Aqua. Love it! Love Cath Kidston. Very dangerous place to go to. Cute new tennis shoes. Can I touch them at market??

  18. If we’re voting I’m going for the red gingham. It’s PERFECT with those tennies;-)

  19. Ha ha ha – you said ‘weinerhead’!!

I’m voting for all of those beautiful fabrics because they all work with your gorgeous shoes and you can never have too many clothes ;o)

  20. You are such a hoot – I like all the prints – are you going to tie up a shirt like Ellie-May, lol?
That photo for your sister’s 50th is a riot!!
